Interesting. The more I think about it, I wonder if the story is true. Maybe it's a way to launder money? The buyer simply says he "found" it. Either way, if I was the buyer I would have kept my mouth shut. Now you can bet the IRS will be paying him a visit. I sure wouldn't have mentioned it in the feedback.

The "I thought it was empty" doesnt seem right to me.If I have a locked safe in my possession legally no way its going before I check the contents.Fishy indeed.

You can bet the realized prices of "locked safes" on Ebay, just went up for the next month or two.

Good job calling BS on this story.

Original TV news story has been updated with the following:

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - UPDATE: The seller has added a new comment to his feedback page claiming that the buyer never found any money:

"He was playing a practical joke the safe was empty there wasnt any money in it."

Typical shoddy reporting by TV news. Just throw it out there as legitimate news without verifying a thing - so it goes viral around the world before the story is ever exposed as a joke. Hmmm...maybe next time wait until you see the cash before running a story. Sheesh

Default dunno

I dunno....story just sounds fishy. If the buyer did find the 26k, and I were he, I wouldn't give any money back. The seller said "no more and no less".....As some had said, the positive feedback should suffice.
