Default Grading Bandwagon--Question

Posted By: Cobby33

Which one of the "Big 3" will slab and grade a card that is probably trimmed (noting, of course, that it is trimmed and/or authentic?)
Thanks in advance for your answer.

Because I won a couple in a Huggins & Scott auction as part of a Lot and I don't want them returned to me, unslabbed, with a "thanks but no thanks" note from PSA or whichever company I send it to.

it depends on the card ..the higher the rarity, price , importance etc..the more likely any of the big 3 would slab it as such

Thanks, Rick & Josh.
The players are low-end, but one is an American Beauty back and the other a Cycle.

Just ask them to do slab them and they should be able to accomodate you.

GAI and SGC will. Not sure what PSA's current practice is.

GAI will but you have to specifically write on the submission sheet that you want it slabbed as "authentic."

Default Grading Bandwagon--Question

I am under the impression that GAI will holder any card not warranting a numerical grade, as Authentic indicating the alteration on the reverse of the flip. PSA will also do it for any card if you place a note attached to the protecto of the card requesting them to do so. I just exchanged emails with Sean from SGC yesterday and hope I hope he does not mind that I reproduce it here for everyone. He has very specifically and articulately explained SGC's position. The purpose of the Auth holder is to put cards in the holder that would not typically be graded i.e. miscut cards, or cards that have minor problems or do not meet size requirements for a number of different reasons. We do not feel it is appropriate to put cards in the holder that have been purposely altered
(color added, power erased, rebacked, hole filled, etc) to enhance the appearance or condition of the card. I realize the policy is not an exact science and we do look at cards and circumstances on a case by case basis. I hope you understand our position.

Just curious, were the cards listed as trimmed when you bought them?

Yes--H&S did list them as trimmed, or possibly trimmed. And, Sox, no worries--thanks for your help on this (and to everyone else).
