Well here's the front of the card in question. I would like to know if these are hard to come by or what? My new collecting goal is different HOFer from different sets.

I hate to say it but if you do a search on this forum for "tharps" you will find some good discussions. The prevailing thought is pretty close to what Rhett Y, said a few years ago...all of these have similar looking fronts and are the same type cards...size-wise...Personally I think the bottom three could be switched around a little...

RAREST
1. York Type II
2. Sweetman
3. Tharps
4. York Type I
5. Harringtons
6. W502
7. Yeunglings

I would say it is probably freezer burned by now. Just check with the regional ice-cream dealers. Sure you can only get the neopolitan flavors if you are looking for that old of ice cream.

I agree with Leon, I think there have been more W502's that have surfaced over the last few years that would make them the most plentiful (I am not including the 1931 W502 set, they are pretty tough). Then the Yeungling's and Harrington's are pretty close to one another, but I would say the Yeungling's are a little easier.

Just so you know how to do the search function to get the most info you do it by "match" and not "date"....I just entered tharps in the search function and about 5 good discussions popped up on the first page...and there were more pages. I do appreciate good discussions and rarely ask folks to do searches....I was being lazy...here is a pretty good discussion...

For what it's worth, the photo on the front of that Hack Wilson card is not Hack Wilson.

Default How Rare is Tharp's Ice Cream?

Posted By: Brian Lindholme

I went to Safeway to research this question, and I have to say that this brand is waaaay rarer than Ben+Jerry's or Dreyer's. I couldn't find it anywhere.

But seriously, I am a York Caramels collector,(I have 2/3 of the set) and have a few other "ice cream" type cards/W502s...but doggone it, there are no Tharp's in my collection either !

I contemplated this while gobbling down some Vanilla Bean (that research hit the sweet tooth)...I guess I should ask if anyone has a HOF Tharp's for sale?

But not to hijack this thread, I think I see less Sweetman's than anything else. I don't know if there are any Sweetman's experts out there, but I seem to think Bill Terry shows up over and over again...maybe its the same card changing hands between collectors.

Anyone have any addt'l thought on these?

Thanks
Brian L
