Default T206 Group Break Poll

I should have a set break ready to go in less than two weeks.

The question I pose:

Would you rather have a lower price point, with less hits? ($55-$60)

Or

A higher price point, with more hits? ($65-$75)

Currently the lower price point has a hall of fame hit rate of 1:4.5 slots, the higher price point will be roughly the same, but would allow for a Demmitt ST Louis to become a hit among other higher grade (and rarer back) cards, such as a T205 Mathewson, HoF Cracker Jacks, M101 HoFers, etc.

Thank you for your consideration and help.

Sean

why not do a midpoint for 62.50 split the difference... up the hits a little

I would prefer the lower price point myself. Is it a complete t206 set minus the big 6? If so, the thought of spending $55ish for a possible Cobb but also a possible common is more exciting than the larger cost gamble and getting stuck with the same common.

I am still deciding on the size of the break. I wanted to do it similar to the 1954 break at around 250 or 300 slots, but if I up the number of slots then I do not need to up the price to put more hits in.

Any feedback will help, I would essentially pass the 'hit' cost on to the break - so if another $1000 card goes in and it is 250 slots, the slot price would go up by $4 each, but someone has the chance to hit a huge card.

It has been mixed so far.

Sean, I don't quite understand what you would be breaking up. It says t206 break, but you also mention Cjs and a T205. Can you explain what cards would be included a little more? I would personally be more interested in it if it were to just stick to t206.

Luke/Mark

As bonus' to the break I have extra cards I was going to throw in. A PSA 4 Mathewson T205, CJ Walsh, etc.

Any non-t206 cards would specifically be big hits. It was recommended to me by a few board members to try a couple other big hits from other iconic sets.

Nothing is set in stone yet.

I actually can't find an O'hara, but do have the Demmitt, so to make up for some of the bigger cards from the set the other hits would be put in.

For instance I have 2 (or 3) potential copies of a Bat Off Cobb that can be put in, but am lacking green/red port.

I am in for sure. My vote would be for the higher price point to allow for the possibility of a bigger hit.

Thanks for doing this!

Ok, I get it. I like the idea of throwing in some nice cards from other sets.

I would be in. I am for the higher price point but it would probably leave some out. So if I were you I would not go that route. Glad to see a prewar break. I didn't get in the '54 break and really glad I was out of town. I have NO interest in post war stuff.

Ok I guess I will be the jerk and ask. Is this being done as a fun break like the 54 Topps set with full disclosure or is this being done to sell a lot of cards at a profit?

To avoid confusion with authenticity or grade, I have had SGC slab over 600 T206's for the event.

I have made sure to avoid the front sections and post in the BST.

So all cards are graded and it is a for profit break. Thank you for the info Sean. Good luck with the break. I personally am not interested only because I do not collect T206's.

Sean-

It is an interesting premise, but would you publish a list of what is in the break? A complete set is one thing, you can easily find a checklist - but before I would say yes to this I would like to know what is in there. You also mention there could be doubles?

Yes, completely transparent.

Every card in the break would be scanned, a breakdown of what is there would also be provided.

I am going to try and keep doubles to a minimum, but to fill out the break some will be necessary.

I guess I'm a little lost here...what's the big deal if he makes profit off of this? With everything that goes into it, you better believe he should make a profit. Not sure why it's a big concern

No big deal at all. Just a valid question, if you noticed I wished him good luck and hope Sean did not take my question as being negative.

Yes Sean you do it with T210's and I am in for a couple spots.

I didn't think you were being negative, I guess I didn't see where your question was relevant.

I think this event could also open the door to some t206 trading, something we don't see much of on this board anymore. I for one am definitely in at the right price with a ratio of about 4.5:1 of hall of famers to commons. If the price goes above the $70 dollar range I would probably sit out. I'd be very interested in seeing a potential checklist. Are we looking at only common backs or a mixture?

Sean,

Where can I find a complete checklist of this break? Since you are not doing a true set break, I would appreciate knowing what cards are possible before making any commitments.

Best regards,

Eric

Eric, once I get the other cards back from SGC I will create the checklist. I will also have an album with every single card in the break, scanned.

I'm in. Might have to limit the # of slots. This break could go large in a hurry.

Sorry if this has been asked before; however, I have a question. Is this thread meant to be a poll only or is it the one where you claim a spot in the break?

I would have asked via PM had I not thought others might be wondering the same thing.

Best regards,

Eric
