+1

I was shut out (mostly due to overextending myself for REA).

Nice pickup. I find it interesting how often Cobb signed with that green ink. It must have been one of his favorites.

Congrats Paul, there is a lot of history in those two cards. Fantastic early baseball centerpieces!

My CDVs arrived! The 1869 Red Stockings and 1875 Hartford Dark Blues. Just 6 days after the close of the auction and 5 days after I sent my regular check by regular mail. Thanks to Goodwin & Co. for very fast service!

Now, the big question: do I liberate them from their holders? I think so. I know exactly how I want to display them.

I think both cards are neat, with major historical significance--congratulations Paul! However, steal implies that the values were way off. I don't think this was the case. Both have major condition issues which affected the prices they sold for. The market in the future may be higher or lower for this type of material, but those condition issues will always weigh on the prices they bring.

Jay- I haven't seen the 1875 Hartfords sell for less than $10k in a long time regardless of condition. The fact that the Goodwin example only received one bid is also surprising. With about a dozen examples known, the market may be thinner than thought.

Gary- I saw that exact Hartford photo sell on Ebay for less than $5K a few years ago. Granted, it probably slipped under the radar.

Gary--there are significant issues with the top row in the photo. I think that is the reason for the lack of bidding.
