Default Aaron Ward

I am seeking as many cards as I can find for this person. He played 2nd base for the Yankees between 1917 and 1927. He has six remaining family members (granddaughter and great grandchildren.) I would love to be able to give each a card. I have never collected cards before so I'm not really sure where are the best places (besides ebay) to look. I do know there were 7 cards issued for him, and I have numbers, but I honestly don't know what to do with these. Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

: Aaron Lee Ward

: Bats Right, Throws Right
: Weight 160 lb.
: School Ouachita Baptist University
:

: Debut August 14, 1917
: Final Game June 7, 1928
: Born August 28, 1896 in Booneville, AR
: Died January 30, 1961 in New Orleans, LA

Aaron Ward had seven cards:
E120: 1922 American Caramel Series of 240 cards, cards were unnumbered
E121: 1921 American Caramel Series of 80 cards, cards were unnumbered
E121: 1922 American Caramel Series of 120 cards, cards were unnumbered
E220: 1921-23 National Caramel issue, cards were unnumbered
W501: 1922 issue, Ward was card #25
W515: 1923 issue, Ward was card #19
W572: 1923 issue, cards were unnumbered

Here is an exhibit card of Aaron Ward that may help fill the bill. I will e-mail you with particulars. As for the other cards, I must defer to the expertise, of which there is plenty, of other board members.

I just found a card from the 1926 Sports Co. of America and it is not him.
The message says Aaron Ward, but looking closely at the card it says JM Ward copywrite 1887 -- Aaron Ward wasn't born until 1896. There was a John Montgomery Ward who played and also managed (I'm not sure which team) before Aaron Ward was ever born. Thank you for your help.

The 1926 Sports Co. of America Champions card should picture Aaron Ward, as it was issued in 1926 and Ward is identified by full name in the SCD Standard Catalog. Aaron Ward is also in the W503 set. These two cards will be almost impossible to locate. Aaron is also in the E126 American Caramel set, but this is would be an almost as tough one to locate--I would stick with your original list of cards. Of those you listed, the E120 and E121 Series of 120 should be the easiest to come by. Next would be the E121 Series of 80, followed by the rest, all of which are tougher but not impossible to find.

Thank you so much for your help. I have only been able to locate one of these 1926 Sports Co. cards for Aaron Ward, but when I looked at it, it didn't even say Aaron Ward. This is the website where I found it:

http://www.prewarsports.com/other.html

I have been able to locate two more cards. I have no idea really what they are because there are no photos of the cards, and I didn't recoginize any of the info on it (not that that means anything). I found them on Becketts.com here:

Thank you much again,

Hillary

Hillary,

I believe the Aaron Ward in the 1926 Spalding set (aka the Sports Company of America series) is the one you seek. Here is an image of the card:

This is a picture of the card I found on Beckett's????

This is so exciting. I've never done anything like this before. I've got my eye on four cards now. Thank you all so much for your help. My fiance and his family are going to flip out!

Just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate all the help you've given me. I have managed to get four cards so far. I'm gonna have to wait until after Christmas to pursue any more. I also have the one and only bid so far on the photos! My fiance's mother has a lot of photos and things, but I didn't want to tap her for any it. She does not, however, have any baseball cards of her grandfather, and I'm really excited about surprising them all.

Thank you all again!

Peace,
Hillary

Hillary,

Although this card is not for sale, it will give you another example of an Aaron Ward card:
