Default For the T209 Fans: Contentnea Silks?

Did anyone else notice this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_500wt_1182

I've seen the Indian inserts, T128s, but never these silks. The interesting thing at least to me is that whereas the baseball cards are definitely regional issues, these silks must be for a broader market (either that, or there were a bunch of Vassar grads living in the southeast in the early 20th century).

My question is: does anyone know if these were indeed inserted in the same packs as the T209 baseball cards (and has anyone seen a pack?)? And if so, does it say anything about the distribution of the T209 baseball cards?

Seth,

I, too, saw this auction (I was outbid) and was very intrigued by the two silks. This is the first time I've seen the series and I would love more information on them. Geographically, the inclusion of Guilford College makes sense, the Vassar silk, like you mentioned, throws me off a bit (nothing personal, of course, i've always had a soft spot in my heart for Vassar). A silk of Davidson College or even Duke University would make more sense.

Vassar College's inclusion opens the doors for many other schools to be in the set. I'd imagine similar schools could also, potentially, have been issued in this series (Amherst, Bowdoin, Swarthmore, Williams, etc.). Of course this is all speculation, I'd love to hear some insight from a collector with experience in the issue.

Bob Forbes would probably have more info on these silks. You could find his email address on the non-sports board.
