Default OT: Consistent Team Batting Averages

I just happened to look at today's Yankee box score, and I was amazed at the consistency of the team's batting averages for this season (consistently mediocre). Is this truly as unusual as I see it to be?

Ellsbury--.259
Headley--.261
Rodriguez--.249
Beltran--.276
McCann--.240
Young--.246
Bird--.248
Gregorius--.267
Refsnyder--.250

As a Yankee fan I noticed this a few weeks ago. All I can say is that mediocrity is contagious

I think it's unusual that a pretty good, playoff-bound team doesn't have any better hitters than that.

And you could have added Gardner at a big .260.

Yankees have 3rd most home runs in baseball, behind the Astros & Blue Jays
So at least their few hits count

One reason they have had trouble scoring runs lately, every batter is like every other batter. Everyone is essentially , 1 for 4 they can't string many consecutive hits together and don't have many sustained rallies. As one poster mentioned they are 3rd in HR's and getting many of their wins as a result.

Ever since Tex got injured things tightened up a bit.
Greg Bird is an ample replacement as he has 10 home runs in an abbreviated time.
But they were scoring a ton of runs. Twice this season they scored 20 runs in a game.
Now if they win they have to eeck it out, like today's 2-1 win.

Best stat of the year I heard earlier this year. The 'stros were the only team leading their division after a month or later that was starting 7 players who were hitting under .200. Amazing
