Just want to get it right, so I don't sound like a fool.

1. Goudey
Goo-dey or Gow-dey

2. (Sweet) Caporal
Accent on 1st, 2nd or 3rd syllable

3. Dietsche
Deet-she or ???

4. Lajoie
Cobb's bio states Laz-way, soft z, I think

Napoléon "Nap" Lajoie [la-ZHWAH, or often la-ZHWAY, per the Canadian French pronunciation] [Or, as he himself usually pronounced it, LAJ-a-way; source, Lee Allen in The American League Story]

1. Like Harry Gowdy

2. Capp-or-al (like Barlick, Bundy, or Coholic)

3. The last one gets tricky. The true French pronunciation would be "La-zswuh" ("zs" as in "Zsa Zsa"), but his contemporaries said "La-zsoh-way" or "La-zsah-way".

You can hear him introduced on the 1939 Baseball Hall of Fame CD. I believe it is LA-zha-way.

What about Magee/Magie. I have heard more than one collector refer to the correctly spelled T206 as Mah-Gee (hard "g" and presumably the correct pronunciation) and the error as May gee (soft "g").
