can someone please explain to me how this T206 Matty got a PSA 4 grade???? I have had PSA 2s look a lot better than this. No offense to the seller, but I am shocked.

That is a travesty. I wonder if it yet another WIWAG. By the way Tbob, get my e-mail?

What is a WIWAG??? I appologize for my ignorance. About all I know about graded cards is that I strongly dislike them. But the grading on this Matty looks outrageously generous.

Notice that the bidding is blazing away at a scorching $1.25 !! At least it isn't trimmed.

Is sometimes scary.

Should I change it to?:

Graders are sometimes Fantastic with sides and corners.

You gotta admit, at a buck twenty five, ..... itsa hell of an investment.

I would be happy to bid if it still at a $1.25 6 days from now.Just make sure your max bid is to the power of 2 not 3.

Yea,when we are too old to swing bats we have to swing what is in our hip pocket.A graded Matty will always bring a good price.I'm sure this will go up.Honestly,if this weren't in a PSA or other holder, just by looking at the scan, many here would call it a fake.I would be one to include in that group. You guys remember the O'Hara scan? I bit the big one calling that.

WIWAG (When It Was A Game) was a dealer that got busted by the FBI for buying PSA graded cards, breaking them out and replacing them and resealing them with lesser conditioned cards. I think they had a slabbing machine and the same slabs.

For example, they would buy a PSA 4 Matty portrait. Break open the slab. Take out the VG/EX card and reslab the label with their machine and put a good Matty inside, which they obviously got for a lot less money. When people would buy holders instead of cards, they could make a lot of money that way on ebay, etc. They could sell a gd Matty for a vg/ex price. Maybe then they would buy a PSA Ex 5 Matty, break it open and reseal the PSA 5 label with the vg/ex card, etc.

THere are still some WIWAG slabbed cards around.

The issue isn't how recently the card was graded, but the seal that is in place.Scans can be deceiving(check my edits). This one could go either way.

ok so the case looks a little cloudy all the way around...but i felt maybe if you turn your scanner way up to sharpen the image, you might also get that cloudy effect...so i tested it:

card on ebay:

my card with sharpen setting way up:

the white cloudy "frames" the ebay card much more noticeably. i'm not certain either way but that's a terribly overgraded card that even an untrained monkey can see.
