Default Hold the Mayo, Please!

Posted By: Jeff S

Straight from Beckett--will this mean they start a Mayo "buyback" program? (In which case, I may have some cards to sell to Kit Young...<G>)

"Donruss is offering a sneak preview of one its 2002 Gridiron Kings' most unique inserts: Donruss 1894, a turn-back-the-clock set inspired by the legendary 1894 Mayo release.

"Donruss 1894 is a 25-card set, sequentially numbered to 1,000, and includes such players as Anthony Thomas, Randy Moss, Tom Brady, Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, John Elway, Joey Harrington and others. The cards carry blank, black backs, with the exception of the sequential numbering box.

"2002 Gridiron Kings is due to hit hobby shelves October 23."

there's a sample card pictured at:

Compared to Topps these guys are really cheap. Why no real Mayo football inserts and, more importantly, a cover letter from Keith Olbermann?
