Default Clean Sweep Auction ending Today, Wednesday 2/1/17 !!

A quick note to let all of our members know that the current Clean Sweep Auction is closing this evening. Good luck to all bidders, consignors and the auction house. And thanks again to Clean Sweep for allowing Net54baseball to help spread the word. And a word from the AH...

Our latest major auction closes TODAY Wednesday February 1. INITIAL BIDS MUST BE PLACED BY 6 PM EST TODAY. The ten minute rule begins at 11 PM EST, the entire auction ends at the same time. New bids (not max bids) placed from 1:30 AM EST onward are subject to an additional premium (please see detail below).

Please note bidders who bid on 10 or more lots can bid on any lot at any time. Unopened lots can also be bid on at any time (but do not assume that and get shut out!).

The auction contains a wide variety of fresh material from various fields, including a fine selection of 19th century and early 20th century baseball cards, vintage baseball card sets and lots, an amazing selection of vintage entertainment autographs and fine memorabilia from all of the major sports.

Signature items in the auction include an extremely rare pre-1900 Ned Hanlon signed contract and a National Copper Plate Honus Wagner Rookie Card.

As always with these auctions, there are many huge prices, but there are also many great deals in all of the categories.

We begin with baseball cards. A highlight of the auction is an extremely desirable 1898 National Copper Plate card of Honus Wagner, his rarest and most desirable Rookie Card. We have a solid selection of 19th century material, with note to a an Old Judge Dummy Hoy PSA 7 and some fresh to the hobby N173 Old Judge Cabinets and related issues. Early 20th century card collectors will see a run of the key T206 cards in 4s and 5s, with two Cobbs, Johnson, Mathewson and Young among others. We also have the key Demmitt and O’Hara St. Louis cards.

There is a good run of T3s, with Mathewson and Young PSA 3s. Other special cards include a T213 Type 3 Walter Johnson PSA 8, a new run of 1948 Leaf short-prints with a Feller and Newhouser, a superb run of fine PSA 7 and PSA 8 1952 Topps cards, with many low numbers and high numbers and a gorgeous PSA 6.5 1953 Topps Mantle.

Baseball card sets and lots include an E96 set, a fine R312 set, a super rare 1951 Fischer’s Bread Label set, a rare 1952 Colorado Springs Sky Sox set with the original album, a 1954 Dan Dee set, and our usual selection of Topps and Bowman sets from the 1940s through the early 1970s.

Baseball autographs are tremendous here, among our best ever offerings. We have quality signed pre-war cards, including a T206 and several 1933 Goudey HOFers, several vintage Mantle signed cards, a Mint 1961 Topps Mantle/Maris signed League Leader card, a full 1984 Topps signed set and many fine group lots.

Autographs continue with some terrific signed photos, including Eddie Collins, a stunning Lou Gehrig, a gorgeous Walter Johnson and a remarkable John McGraw. We have an extremely rare Ned Hanlon signed contract from 1897, an amazing Wilbert Robinson pre-1900 ALS, a Grover Cleveland Alexander letter with Christy Mathewson content, a 1922 Brooklyn Robins team signed sheet and a terrific Ruth/Cobb signed autograph album page.

Autographed baseballs include a fine Fidel Castro single, a stunning condition Gil Hodges, a fresh-to-the-hobby Babe Ruth and more. Team signed balls include a 1926 Giants, 1927 Dodgers, 1939 Red Sox with a Rookie Ted Williams, a 1955 Dodgers and many high quality All Star balls from the 1950s and 1960s.

The entertainment section is our best ever, these are almost all from a spectacular single-owner collection. A journalist managed to obtain beautiful vintage 1930s and 1940s photos, and had them signed over time in the 1970s and 1980s, with amazing content. Likely one of the best collections of its kind to hit the market in years, anyone nostalgic for old Hollywood will really enjoy this section of our auction.

Non-sports collectors will see a run of many sets going back to the 19th century, with note to a 1938 Horrors of War set.

Football collectors will see a superb 1962 Green Bay Packers signed football and a huge hoarde of 1975 Fleer Immortal and related signed cards, broken up into sensible lots.

Baseball memorabilia nicely ends the auction, with many great tickets, including a 1927 World Series and a 1948 Babe Ruth Day, many rare pins, including a terrific Jackie Robinson collection, a 1927 Yankees World Series pin, a 1971 Tour of Japan World Series ring, two Mike Piazza Mets gamers and some fine personal items from Frank Malzone, including a 1957 All Star Game diamond charm and a 1999 All Star Game ring.
