The pins are pinned to slightly padded cloth backing and then are under glass. Thanks! |

I just picked up this 2 inch pin. I was hoping someone could confirm that it's referring to Leo Durocher. Also if it's a common pin and the approximate value. Thank you in advance!

I’m not 100% sure but close to it…..I’d say it’s from the very tail end of Leo’s stint with the Cubs. Probably late 60’s or (more likely to me) early 70’s. There are other pins from Leo’s time with the Cubs, expressing satisfaction or dissatisfaction with his performance. Sorry I can’t help with rarity or value.

Considering the color of the pin and possibly being made in 1973 it would be for Durocher's stint as the Houston Astros manager in late '72 and all of '73.

Then again it could be a political candidate or something else completely unrelated to baseball.

That's why I was hoping that someone could say for sure if it was about Durocher or not. I think it probably is, but I'm not positive.

Could be, but we’ve seen the Leo Must Go and Leo Must Stay….those are beseball.

That’s true. But the Leo Must Go and Stay pins have been clearly documented through ads selling them in the early 70s. In 50 years of collecting I have never seen this other Leo pin connected with Dorocher.

Im with Mike 50 years of collecting I have never seen this pin associated with Leo Dorocher... Probably political.. who knows Even in Pauls book there are pins shown that over time had nothing to do with baseball he believed they were.. even if it is at best in my opinion a 10 to 20 dollar pin... If it were mine I absolutely not say its baseball.. Ed a big reach on this one my friend...

Very true. The Muchinsky book has a pinback from a Richmond minor league hockey team that he attributed to baseball.
