Default T206 guys help me out: Is this card trimmed?

It measures fine. The way its cut seems uniform, but it looks weird. Obviously I'm biased toward wanting it to be un-altered, so I figured I'd ask you guys. Thanks for looking.

Yeah, that right edge looks funky, particularly the flare out at the top.

I'm by no means an expert and without even looking at the side of the card which is another good way of telling if a card is trimmed, this looks trimmed big time.

That corner is pretty wavy, I don't like either side of the card. Just realized it was Luke who posted this !! Luke you seem like you'd know better than I would.

Thanks for responding Conor. I definitely agree about the top right and bottom right corners flaring out. To me it looks like the cut on the right side curves in and makes the corners flare out. And the cut on the left side looks like it curves outward. Does anyone else see that?

You rarely, if ever, see a wavy factory cut on a T206. Maybe you do on some of the 50's-70's cards, but almost never on a T206. But yes, definitely trimmed (even if it does measure correctly).

I think it's NOT trimmed. Take a look at all four edges and see if they all have the same color and striations. If one of them is bright white, that's a good tell that it was trimmed. Based on the borders I can see in the scan, I am guessing all four edges would look similarly cut and worn.

It looks trimmed, but the size looks good. Maybe part of a sheet that wasn't used (because of the slight color shift?) and then hand cut at some point after production?

Even if it measures correctly there is a chance that it is trimmed. Has happened to me before. It's a nice card with a partial miscut on the back regardless. I feel like it is trimmed, but who knows.

Just look at the top left corner on the reverse scan. It looks like there is a curve in the cut.

Default btw...

obvious trim.....(without seeing in person)

check out both "dog ears" up top....they both "flare up".....luke.....check all the edges.....top edge will look different.....might be a slight "shave".....many T206 were large top to bottom , back in the day.....collectors used to trim them just to fit in some binders believe it or not....ask Wonka

look at the top edge, some paper peeled back/looks tampered.....

corners up top are DRASTICALLY different than the bottom corners......bottom are "fuzzy" and evenly worn....

btw...nice slight "2 back"

Looks to me like it was the bottom left corner of a sheet as the top & right side look hand cut while the other 2 areas don't. I agree it was probably cut from a scrap sheet.

I say 99% trimmed and 1% chance hand cut from a sheet.

There you have it, Luke. The collective board says maybe trimmed, maybe not. That'll be $17 + sh + ins.

My guess it was one of the oversized border cards that someone tried to trim down and did a terrible job.

Except for the back being so off center it's a slam dunk for a trim job. I still don't see how that top right corner could be so sharp given the other corners wear. So I will agree with the others.

If that card is worth 10K, it is a real "gasp"er.

I picked up this Meyers that has the same type of cut. And I'm 99% sure this one is not trimmed or altered in any way. If you have a card with the same cut, please post it. I still lean towards the Gaspar being un-altered, but I'm not sure.
