Default Annis Fur Cards of 1934

Just picked up an upgrade so figure a thread about this cool 1934 Detroit set would be fine. Hall of Famers in the set are tough to come by, not that any cards in the set are easy. As in many rare sets "a" type might not be too terribly difficult, but I can imagine finding an individual player could take many years. Show one if you have one (if you want to )...

Thanks Leon. As you stated in 2014, finding an individual player may take years. For me, 12. But very much worth it.

Default And The Envelope Please.......

..Ten in this envelope but there are more than twenty photo/cards in some checklists....we need to scour the attics of Detroit and environs ....I've exhausted the antique stores and pawn shops and cardstores of Lakeland Florida over the past few winters awaiting Spring Training to begin....

Default 1934 Tigers

Mike, very nice cards. Did you find the Envelope #2 with 10 cards inside? Does it appear that they were the original contents? If so, could you please list the ten cards?

Thanks much,
Lyman

Default Annis Furs

Thanks Mike. We have noted those 10 players as likely being from Envelope #2 on the Set Checklist on the OC website. --Lyman

I found this at an auction years ago: 2 Envelopes ( Set No. 1 and Set NO. 2 ( 10 photos each ). It appears the total set has 23 players, I have 20 with these 2 sets. Missing: Eldon Auker, General Alvin Crowder and Heinie Schuble. My set is different ( must have been for a blind collector), all cards have braille dot identations on them !

NOTE: I have Set No. 1 and 2 but didn't have the Auker or Crowder card in mine. Seems like 3 cards were replaced for a total of 23 , 23 cards shown on poster .

Also in one of the envelopes was this Baseball World's Series Results card ( same size) 1903-1934. This was produced after the 1934 season and 1934 World Series. Probably an ad in a Detroit Newspaper would verify. Need to do some research. See scans

I'm new to the board (first post!) but have been lurking for a while. I picked up a handful of these earlier this year, and was outbid - by Brian, it would appear -- on that Greenberg when it was on eBay a couple months back.

Here's what I landed:

Goslin: https://photos.app.goo.gl/NZJphPHwQgvLzLmv9
Hayworth: https://photos.app.goo.gl/eaAo4L5yTGEbrokD7
Perkins: https://photos.app.goo.gl/FbthnK8RE46Qy8S4A
Hogsett: https://photos.app.goo.gl/dAi4kPwjw6PcjTeRA

If any of the Annis Furs collectors out there want to trade cards, I'm looking for Carl Fischer, Frank Doljack, and Luke Hamlin.

The Goslin and Hayworth are available for trade

Could have been released around World Series time in 1934. Crowder joined the team on Aug 4th, 1934, Perkins signed as Free Agent as player/coach on Sept 25, 1934, Doljack was gone by Nov 23, 1934 when he was purchased by Milwaukee(AA) .

17 players in the set + 2 coaches = 19 played in the World Series. 4 players in the set did not play even though they were on the World Series Roster ( Sorrell, Hamlin, Fischer & Schuble). Rudy York and Herman "Flea" Clifton were on the World Series Roster , but did not appear in this set of cards.

That would depend on the scope of his practice.

I immaturely admit that the thread title gave me an unpleasant visual.

But Frank, that doesn't excuse you.
