Default why no bids on cobb ball?

sorry if i'm calling this listing out but does this look strange to anyone? why wouldn't the seller have it authenticated? i've been looking for a ty cobb ball for awhile now and this looks pretty nice.

I think the lack of authentication is a big minus. Few collectors want to pay thousands for an item that doesn't have a COA/LOA. As a layperson/collector who has looked at a lot of Cobb autos, it doesn't look bad. Again, I have absolutely no training or authentication experience so mine is purely a guess.....What does a ball like that with a COA go for? Is that already top price? Does it matter it was 20 yrs after his playing days?

There's still plenty of room price-wise (for a Cobb Ball that nice). I would bet there are more than a few people doing PSA "Quick Opinions" on this one as we speak.

With over 5 days still left, I don't think the lack of current bids means a whole lot. Anyone serious about winning it would have a snipe in place. It will be interesting to watch this one, as it looks pretty good (LOA or not).

It looks to me like one of the printed on signatures that have been discussed in the same vain as the Ruths, and Gehrigs that were being printed on created balls. I dont like the ink it looks to uniform and not right at all to me.

I see what you are saying JD, after reviewing it, it looks like its a combination of a three different signatures. I've never believed that a signature is exactly the same every time. However, I've been burned before and I what I don't like is the statement "The winning bidder will have 7 days to examine the ball and a full refund will be given if not satisfied" Well, the only thing I can do is contact PSA and see if they'll do a walk-through within those 7 days.

Or, would ebay's money back guarantee come into play?

Not to embolden anyone looking to take a chance, but eBay's money back guarantee ALWAYS trumps, regardless of what the seller states in their description.

Hmmmm... another head scratcher- he also has this listed....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-CY-...7#ht_89wt_1215

Sure wish he would divulge in the listing, how he came into two such pristine balls (signed by mega hall-of-famers, no less)

That's because both the Cobb and Cy Young are forgeries.

Default Ebay seller Jamesdeangallery Ty Cobb Baseball Signed

I would guarantee, that if the bidding started at .99, there would be bidding on both of those (Ty Cobb and Cy Young) forgeries.

Somebody must have pointed the seller to Net54. The baseballs are gone.
They are forgeries, Chris is right. They are better then run of the mill crap though.
But what I find fascinating is that the seller has 9000++ feedback and no other autographs in a lengthy selling list.
It does not appear he ever sold autographs.
It is possible he might be a victim in this and when alerted to the problems with these items, he pulled them.

I love autographed items, but as a seller I don't see any up-side to selling autographs on ebay, unless you are someone who is well-respected in the industry;e.g-yourself, Richard.

We're not factoring in that Young was the master of ceremonies at some fictional location.
