Default W515-1 Babe Ruth PSA 10 on pawn stars

Did anyone else catch the latest pawn stars? Customer came in with a 1923 W515-1 Babe Ruth #47 PSA 10. Asked Rick for 60k. Is there a recorded sale of this in the past? Of course Rick had to bring his buddy jeremy in to appraise it. Wonder if they actually look at auction sales or just guess the value

Ya ive heard the debate about strip cards getting a numerical grade. Were they all hand cut?

They are all hand cut and therefore should not be eligible for grading.

Ya guy wanted 60k but jeremy came in and valued it between 12-15k. Guy wouldnt go lower than 40k so of course no deal was made

Well it looks like that same card sold for $12.5 K in 2013. I would have guessed half that price.

I liked how Rick called it the "ugliest baseball card I have ever seen" or something very close to that quote.

Yes, it was hilarious. I know playing era Ruth cards are on fire, but tripling or quadrupling in value over what the card sold for just two years ago seems like a stretch to me.

I recorded it! I wrote about it in someones BST thread (selling one of those)
In fact, if you saw the 6:30 est show, there was a RUTH rookie team card they showed that was PSA/DNA, but not slabbed. And RIck questioned why it was not slabbed. LOL!
The customer replied, so he may latter if he wanted to frame it.

Oh ya wasnt that the ruth team photo that had the PSA LOA with it. I think it was valued at like 10k. I Dont think they made a deal on it. He even called in a expert to make sure it was legit..lol..Rick and steve are bff's so i couldnt believe he still needed more proof

I was thinking that if Rick thought the Babe Ruth strip card from the W515-1 set was the ugliest card he ever saw, he should check out giant forehead Ty Cobb from the same set.

You know the market on pre-war cards is just not the same as it was ten years ago. It's going to take a while for me to move and you know I have to make money on this. I'll have to find a collector for Babe Ruth and those are hard to come by. And it's going to take up a lot of space in my shop I'll offer you tree fitty. That's as high as I'll go if you want it if not we can walk away friends.

Exactly strictly for tv ratings. Now he can auction it off as the Ruth "as seen on Pawn Stars".

There are so many examples in this thread as to why I stopped watching that godawful show years ago. It makes me want to throw my TV out the window.

Do you guys think Rick would purchase any of the items Drew Max has authenticated? If I took a Gehrig with a Max LOA to the store, think they would buy it? Could be a lucrative business for an enterprising person.

I bet he would. The majority of the autograph stores in vegas have his authentication. I went into one called field of dreams and even mentioned to the guy about drew's reputation but the guy just shrugged it off and said they stand behind the authentication
