I'm not so proud to say I personally trimmed these about 45 yrs ago, give or take.
Needless to say, I don't think Moser or any of the other card doctors will be calling me anytime soon.

This was my dad's 1954 Topps Ted Williams when he was a kid. He had a wallet with some sleeves in it for holding cards which were not quite big enough to hold those big Topps cards, so he pragmatically sliced the edges off to squeeze them in.

Of course he only did this to the star cards because those were the ones he wanted to carry around with him. So Ted Williams, Eddie Mathews, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella and a few others got this treatment.

Here is one that PSA probably thought was trimmed but I think is more of a miscut.

Don't blame you! Was it ever disclosed to you what is actually altered on that card?

On a good day, one of the major TPG's might catch this one. I think it's got a chance of getting by them though.55B Mantle.jpg

Cut so much that PSA called it a W515-1, but if you keep your eye on the "U&U" copyright location, you know it is a W515-2!

I purchased these two HOFers separately, but have always been convinced they came from the same 19th century kid's collection, based upon the identical cuts and pinholes. Makes me love them, even more!!

Probably 'trimmed' from a sheet way way back in the day, like many of the framed back 1909 Obaks seen today.

Hand Cut and trimmed by the great folks at Goudey Gum Co.
Full Disclosure: I no longer own the card, which I often regret.
