Default 1914 Cracker Jack

Posted By: Peter

Does anyone know who bought the 1914 Cracker Jack set in Lipset? I think it did pretty well. It also shows that eventhough that set is so rare and difficult to collect, when the set shows up intact, people are willing to pay up. The Jackson looked amazing and the Mathewson in any grade is perfect. I look forward to hearing some thoughts.

Take care,
Peter

Vintage sets have been selling well. CJ's have been realizing healthy prices as well. Take lot 504 in the last Mastro auction - the 1915 CJ near set... that was very strong.

Lipset called the JJ EXMT and if it grades as such, it's a solid 12-13k card. Especially seeing the nearly $20,000 realized price for the PSA 7 copy that was in the latest SCP's auction.

I would feel more comfortable with a set like this than a high-grade 1915 CJ set. Since PSA will be handing out awards based on the best sets, perhaps this person wanted to buy an award .

the photos don't match the lots.
On Lew's website (www.oldjudge.com), the PHOTO is the first offered, but the text ignores the photo. I can't find the lot number!

In the catalogue, the set is number 1, and four photos are offered. (it did go high. set is hardly unstained.)

On website, it's number 1 under "check bids."
