This seems an appropriate time to give a Thank You to
a fellow forum member for help in 2007 --I'll start with a public thank you to Brian Weisner for scans of the T210s.

Brian, I join in that, thank you for the scans.

Thank you Leon and Ted Z, for all that you do.

This should be an almost endless list, to mind comes Barry S, Jay M, Mr. Maines, TBob, S Gross, Mr. Heitman, JoAnn, Cycleback, FKW, Bill C, Steve Murray, Scott Brockelman, Bill S, T206Collector, Mr. McKee, JohnWonka, and the dozens of others I've omitted.

Realistically, every time someone clicks this site, it is a complement to 'the Board'.

Peace, guys and gals.

And for inspiring me to ask my tech-literate wife to help me set up my website. The thoughts and debates that have been so often expressed here will make up a good deal of the starting points for my rants on my blog. It is great to have a place to showcase my collection and my collecting opinions. None of it would be possible without Net54.

I have to agree with others that say the "thanks" list is soooooooo long it could almost go on forever. I personally want to thank all of the board members who make this a great place. It seems like we have experts in almost every area of Pre-War collecting and that is what truly makes this a great place. Also, I don't know of any other place where you can literally reach out to any part of the US, or many places abroad, and get help from a board "family" member quickly. I remember wanting to do a deal in some obscure place, in the US, and needing a set of friendly hands and eyes, I reached out to the board. In less than an hour I had several emails from folks that were near a little podunk town where this person was. It was really unblievable. It is remarkable seeing the extent of help and support we give each other. It is very heart warming. With that being said, if I can ever help any board member you know where to find me ..... ......best regards and happy holidays!!

to thank individually as everyone has been so helpful and a pleasure to work with this year. But with that said and not to say there aren't many others I do want to acknowledge Paul Holstein for bringing this board to my attention, Joe DiSomma for his all around, Patrick McMenemy for alerting me to McGuire items on ebay, Barry for the escrow service and the tape , Leon for the National dinner and the expert manner in which he runs the board, Brian for the zeenuts, Jim Manos and Toby Peterson for the number of nice transactions this year, Bob M. for being a good sport , Dan Studebaker, Dan Bretta (don't forget the Obaks ), Henry Moses for being one of the coolest guys on the board, Joann for her extremely well thought out posts, Lyman for Old Cardboard and hosting the first Holdem Tourney, Dave Faust and Ted Golden for linking me up, etc. etc. etc.

I owe quite a bit of thanks to the members of the forum. This was my first year on the forum and I've learned an incredible amount from all of you, both on and off-line. I have also enjoyed the healthy debate that is found here which rarely erodes into the low-blows common to most message boards. Thank you all!

I had a huge year with my collecting, in which I made several new discoveries with regards to international collecting, learned more facts on the careers and cards of my cousins, added exciting new pieces to the collection, and began selling cards for the first time....all of which was hugely assisted by the Board in general and several, specifically. So a big thanks to all, and a HUGE tip of the cap to Mark Macrae, Joe DiSomma, Steve Murray, Leon, and Anthony Nex. I know I am forgetting a few, too.

Thanks again, everyone.

Best Wishes for a happy and healthy 2008 ahead.

This is a great place that sucks up way too much of my time. I would like to first thank Frank Ward whom I have learned so much from by reading his posts over the years. Also thanks to people whom I have had the pleasure of working out deals that added to my collection. A partial list is Zach Rice, Brian Scantland, Mark McCleary, Brian McQueen, Matthew Jackson, Dave Terwilliger, and Richard Masson. I would also like to thank Steve Murray, Leon, and Mark Macrae for friendly and informative conversations over the past year. Finally thanks to anyone who put their collection on the net. Chances are that I have been there and learned something from you too!

I would like to thank everyone who "out-bid" me in the auctions I was bidding on. You saved me some money that I really didn't have to part with while trying to save for a house. And if you know the prices in So Cal, you'll understand.

And thanks to everyone who gave valuable information on this little hobby of ours.

Bill, Nice thread.

I'd like to thank Barry Sloate for the indepth 'investment potential' advice rec'd a few months ago. It's nice to have a sensible point of view when one becomes intoxicated over a rare, hi-value memorabilia deal. I appreciate the help Barry

I'd like to thank Dan Bretta and Bert Wright for adding some great items to my collection. I'd also like to thank Leon and Brian for setting up the memorabilia side for us. There have been many helpful people pointing out auction items I may have missed that deserve a thanks too.

Thanks everyone and happy holidays.

I'd like to thank those who provided me with fun and camaraderie:Phishman,
Tarheel,Emory Man, Student of Nirvikalpa, and the KING of Polar Bears.
I'd like to thank those who have been so supportive in helping this
technologically unsophisticated dinosaur function a wee bit in the post-
computer world: Yawie and Leon.
I'd like to thank those who provided us with unquestionably gifted insight into the deepest reaches
of unabgesichert (uncharted) vintage: Drs. Zanidakis and Sloate.
Finally, I'd like to thank one who rose above all the volatility and cacophany which temporarity impedes this board on occasion---one who unequivocally raises
the bar for both vintage scholarship and consistently honorable behavior:
Professor Dr. Scot Reader.
all the best,
Barry

The concept of a "virtual community" still strikes this old timer as something out of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. But I have gotten used to the concept of liking and caring for people whom I have never met via the computer. I really enjoy hanging out with you guys. I have learned alot and it is never dull. If I were to enumerate all those who have helped me with cards I needed or taught me something or just said something that amused me, the list would be a mile long and I would run the risk of missing someone. Instead I would like to acknowledge certain individuals. First and foremost, thanks and a tip of the McDonald cap to the Moderator Dude. You do a great job, take a lot of sh!t in stride yet keep this place rolling. Next, thanks to Keith O'Leary and Robert Adesso for their generous mentoring and card swapping during my Scorched Earth T3 and D304 campaigns. Finally, aloha and thanks to Matt and Kari Goebel and Max Weder and Jennifer Ettinger who have crossed from virtual to real-time friends of my wife and me, and with whom we have shared enjoyable visits in Hawaii and Denver and Vancouver.

Merry Christmas, y'all, Happy Hannukah, and a Festivus for the rest of us!

Most importantly, I would like to thank Leon and Brian for keeping the forum alive.

I'd also like to thank all the people that I purchased from and sold to via the B/S/T thread over the past year.

Special thanks to Mark Macrae for helping me identify several PCL players early in the year.

Much appreciation to TBob and Steve Murray for "standing down" when I pursued some PCL catcher cards on eBay.

Over the past year, I have learned to appreciate the hobby community more especially after the passing of Larry Fritsch and David Grimes. They will be missed.

Happy Holidays,

Patrick

I've been looking forward to answering this one for a few days now. I wanted to wait until I had time to really think.

- Obviously first and foremost to Leon and Brian, for spending the time to make this board exist. And it's not just the time, it's the wisdom to keep this thing in really good balance, and the creativity and expertise needed to really improve the nuts and bolts of the board this year.

- Thanks to all of those that have sent me tips via email to ebay auctions that might interest me. I've picked up many great items that way and am always so appreciative that people will take the time to drop a note.

- Joe G, who gave me the opportunity to see a magnificant Tomlinson imperial cabinet of the 1887 (please let that be the right year) Detroit team. It was breathtaking, and I was lucky to see it in person.

- Everyone at National - Steve M and Tim N and Peter T and Tbob and Mike Peich and Darren and Bryan L and Leon and Todd and Scott M and Jay M and Ted G and the list goes on and on - that was so nice to me and such great company and conversation.

- Dave E, who sent me an email out of the blue and sold me a card that has become one of my favorites - just because he knew it would fit my collection and interest me.

- Barry S - who is truly the compass of this board. Nuf ced, because I know you all know exactly what I mean. A calm voice of sanity and reason.

- Everyone that shares their knowledge here so freely. Dan B and the Yeakley's on photos, tbob and Robert A on caramels, Joe G and Jay M on OJ's, etc. I crack up when someone posts some obscure scrap of something asking what it is - I just watch my watch and wait for Frank W to ring in. It's like a game of "Stump the Band" with him! And Ted Z and Scot R are practically national treasures when it comes to T206 knowledge.

- Jeff L and Jason L and Wonka for being so damn funny I can hardly stand it. I just crack up on most of their posts.

- And Gil M and Kyle B - who came up with the two ideas in 2007 that best demonstrate the spirit of this board. Kyle put together the donation of cards to sell in REA and donate to charity - and showed the generosity of the members here. And Gil came up with the Dupe Box idea that brought back just about every nostaglic thought and feeling and spirit of this hobby.

I have completely enjoyed making this post. I know the thread was about someone that helped you in 2007, but it was really a nice exercise to sit back and think about the year and so many people and how they contribute and how it all works together. So thanks Bill S for starting the thread!

Of course this is a partial list. There are so many people here that make contributions worthy of thanks that it would be impossible not to miss one.

Joann

Selfishly, I'm thankful I moved to Chicago and finally got internet. Phew!

But unselfishly, I am thankful for the amazing people I have met on this board, and look forward to shaking hands with at the national next year. Especially thankful to all those who contributed to last year's charity auction, and to those who are anxious for 2008's auction.

A lot of wonderful people on this board... have a wonder long weekend.

Let me add a salute of appreciation to Barry as well -- he always seems to have something insightful to say about just about everything. And for this hobby he has always been and continues to be one of the Good Guys.

And also to Leon -- great job keeping the discussions on track, the exchanges civil, and this forum an enjoyable place to visit and contribute.

Hey J (note term of endearment)

I think this arse said he (assuming it's a male) didn't appreciate your posts. Sorry but I didn't save his drivel. It was an immature post with no worthwhile content. It wasn't "triple x not able to be seen", but was anonymous and not needed. Had the loser not been anonymous, and stayed civil, he could disagee with anything he wanted to. I dislike, and there are forum rules against, anonymous posts in these instances...
