Default What's on your 2010 Memorabilia Wish List?

I'm hoping to find an original Type 1 team photo of the NY Yankees from any year between 1916 and 1922.

How about everyone else?

My wish list/goal for 2010 is to:
Add the last 3 autographs of the 1934 cardinals and have matted and framed.
Add the last 2 autographs of the 1960 Pirates and have matted and framed.
Add 1 Stadium seat (probably Yankees) to my memorabilia room
Work on the 1927 Yankees autographs including adding additional 1927 payroll checks.
Of course, I'm terrible about starting other projects in the middle of one's I'm working on, so I reserve the right to change my mind!

Two things that would fit well into my collection are the Mantle/Maris Stellar radio and the Trophy baseball radio. Not all that hard to find but have to wait for the right ones ( as far as condition goes) at the right time. Hopefully I can add one or both this year.

I would also like to find the baseball pitcher andiron to complete the pair.

If I can gather up enough funds, any Rube Waddell items would do just fine!

I filled quite a few holes this year, but have 5 recurring items that continue to be on the want-list for many years running...

1. Athletics Stanford Pottery Bank (White Elephant Mascot)
2. White Sox Teens Oversized Greeen Felt Pennant with outstretched Fielder
3. A Duckweb Style Glove in decent condition
4. The Mueller Baseball Clock
5. 1910 Original Testi Statues - Batter and Pitcher (the ones currently on ebay are repros, although not described as such)

Since these are obscure items, I have posted a few photos below...

If anyone can help out with leads to any of these items on "America's Dumbest Want List", please let me know

The timing of this post is interesting because I've had a great year of additions. This great year will be capped off when one of my all time most wanted memorabilia pieces arrives in the next few weeks (I'll post fully when I have it in hand). I had the good fortune to add an oversized Cubs pennant, several early full size Tigers and Cubs pennants, four prized trophies and five terrific figurals. Lately I've been basking in my triumphs and have given little thought to what I don't have. This is one of the primary reasons I put great effort into my office rebuild. When you are surrounded by what you love you can appreciate it. When it's packed away you need a new piece to scratch your itch before putting it away and moving on to another fix. This is just a theory, but it seems to make sense. My 2010 goals based on fiscally realistic options for me.

-I high end Catcher figural trophy.
-A large high end batter figural piece (either a trophy or statue).
-Something Galvano or bronze (I don't have any statues).
-An early baseball themed plate or two.

"My 2010 goals based on fiscally realistic options for me."

In retrospect I should have taken a page from Mike's Book, as unfortunately I made my 2010 goals fiscally unrealistic. Those things would cumulatively cost a fortune!

Rather than edit the post above, I'll say that I would be thrilled to add even one of those 5 items to my collection. I don't really expect to find any of those five things in 2010, but it doesn't hurt to aim high! Plus it was fun to track down photos of each, and post the pics.

I do feel ridiculously blessed to be able to participate in this great hobby, and (like Mike) think it is far better to focus on what we have vs. what we don't. Thanks for the great perspective!

Anything to add. I would say if I won the lottery, a nice Babe Ruth signed item would be a dream, preferably a ball.

Default Thanks to Rich Simon...

I was just able to cross off the number one item of my 2010 want-list...

This superb ticket stub from the game that produced the single most exciting moment in Baseball History.

1951giantswinthepennantTICKET.jpg

Here are a some of my TYPE I photos that have been longing for the stub to accompany them...

I also have a beautiful scored program from the game but need to take some photos and post them.

Thanks again Rich. Our transaction was first-rate from start to finish.

Wow. My friend and I were just discussing ticket stubs yesterday and I was mentioning the Thomson game. Ironic. Great items indeed Jimmy.

As it is the only thing that's been on my wish list since I started painting baseball, I'm DYING for a photo of Gehrig in a specific pose. It's tough as nails to find such action shots from his era, but any photo of him in mid swing from right behind homeplate at eye level (preferably in a Yankee uniform), would just make my life. They're a few shots of Ruth, DiMaggio, Mantle and the like out there like this, but I've NEVER seen a Gehrig. I'm starting to think I never will.

The world for the man or woman who can make it happen!!

A few years back on the old board we had a thread just like this and the very first thing I posted appeared on ebay within the week and I was the lucky winner. It was a copy of Guy W. Green's first booklet about the Nebraska Indians. Amazingly it is still the only copy known to me in private hands...the other two are in the Yale University Library and the Kansas State University Library.

So with that in mind the only thing on my wishlist for 2010 is the 1914 Beltzer's Nebraska Indians Postcard listed in my signature.

Default You know, come to think of it...

most items in my collection I found while searching in a much more broader fashion. I just don't really use specific terms when searching for stuff. I know it sounds pretty goofy and if you're married I certainly don't endorse it, but it has served me well over the years, although it can be VERY time consuming.

Same with catalogs. I will go through them over and over until something catches my eye.

I write this cause I think this is a great thread and when I started to think about what is tops of my want list for the coming year now that I got the '51 Bobby Thomson Ticket Stub... I really couldn't come up with anything specifically.

So...anyone else collect in this fashion or am I the lone nut-job here?

I'm with you, Jimmy...I've always subscribed to the "best available athlete" theory. My best discoveries usually come when I'm most open-minded to collecting opportunities. When I'm looking for nothing, I'm more likely to see everything. The Net54 board has helped broaden my awareness...and that makes my eyesight better!

Anything Nashville from the Southern Assoc or Southern League Minor Leagues ! (A Cap or Jersey would be real nice, but I would settle for much less if I could find it)

I collect old letters. The most obvious hole in my collection (and therefore my most wanted item) is a pre-war Boston Red Sox letter. This shouldn't be too tough to find, but I haven't managed to land one yet.

It's been so long since I added any baseball to my collection I almost forgot I collect it...

That being said, would love to add a 1912 Boston WS Press Pin and a bottle of Red Sox Whiskey (or anything pertaining to Nuf Ced)

Happy New Year Guys
