Default Face palm. Nice job, PSA!

My my, Jimmy is looking a lot like Eddie nowadays

Ok, I know it's only a Topps T206 card here (in other words, their 2002 issue), and not the original ATC issue. But it's a little disheartening to know that somebody at PSA who might be grading real T206 cards doesn't know the difference between Jimmy Collins and Eddie Collins. Those are two pretty famous cards.

The graders are supposed to be knowledgeable about baseball history, are they not? How does somebody make this mistake? I could be suffering from the Bubonic Plague with a 105 fever, on my death bed, and I'd still be able to tell the difference between Jimmy and Eddie Collins.

Maybe we should start searching EBay for T206 Heinie Wagners. Somebody here could get rich.

The seller doesn't seem to know the difference either.

I think this is actually a little bit of topps mistake too. The card was mislabeled by them. Check this post from the archive: www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=84377

The image no longer shows up in the archived post but doing a little google image search you can see the game used bat card in question:

So the question remains - is that piece of wood in the card from a bat jimmy or Eddie collins used? Or just a piece if scrap wood somebody at topps found in the shed out back?

Maybe the Collins' moms were swingers.

You never know.

Default Don't Blame PSA for tbis one

I just checked the Beckett OPG and sure enough this card is listed in the data base as Jimmy while it should have been Eddie.

To make things more confusing, Jimmy was a Philadelphia A's around this time so the mistaken when you get a checklist before the cards became live is more understandable

I'l contact the Beckett Baseball PGE to get this fixed -- and PSA was just following a catalog -- so I'd give the data entry person a break there
