Default Trims on EBAY

Am I wrong, or are all the cards from this seller trims?

http://shop.ebay.com/i_will_buy_that...&_trksid=p3686

He states, " I guarantee this card is original. I can't guarantee that it will grade with a third party grader or what grade it would receive if graded so bid accordingly."

Just wanted to be sure....thanks!!

It's hard to tell from the scans but I am going to guess that most are in fact trimmed. You might ask why I would say that. Because recently he sold a nice vg'ish raw 1934 DS Grove and here is his description:

"1934 Diamond Stars #1 Lefty Grove in poor condition. Back damage and and a light surface wrinkle. Presents well for condition. I have meticulously inspected and measured this card and guarantee it is original, unaltered, and will grade with any reputable grading company. Please bid with confidence as I pride myself on grading fairly. No unpleasant surprises and a liberal return policy if not satisfied. If a defect can't be seen in the scan I will have disclosed it in the above description. Shipping will be $3 and insurance is available for $3. Please fee free to view my feedback and e-mail me with any questions. Thanks for looking and Good Luck!"

Now, if he said all of that in that auction but not in the others I have to think there is a reason for it..Personally, I think he is hedging that folks will think they are (numerically) gradable....That's just a guess though..regards

Default Trimmed

The seller is basically telling you which ones are trimmed by his descriptions. Some he said he has measured and guarantees that they will grade. Others he said that he can not guarantee that they will grade.

Default My auctions

These are my auctions and I do have my suspicions on the cards as noted in the auctions with no guarantee for grading, and that is why I listed as such and to bid accordingly. Not trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes. Some nice cards to be had on the cheap if don't care about slabbing.

Default Not all the cards I have for sale are suspect.

I also wanted to add that not all the cards I have up for auction right now are questionable. The ones that state my guarantee to grade with any third party grader I stand by as stated in the auctions (None are prewar except the CSA card and I don't have to tell anyone here about CSA). I usually don't like to list suspected altered cards but have accumulated a few over time through unfortunate ebay buys. If anyone is speculating that these cards are unaltered (not trimmed, recolored, etc.) and are hoping to grade them, PLEASE DO NOT BID.

Best Regards,
Damian

The lack of guarantee statement would not indicate to a buyer that you suspect the cards are trimmed. It would be prudent for any seller of raw cards to state that they cannot "guarantee" that a card would be accepted for non qualified grading. Lets stop trying to be nice here, it is clear you worded your descriptions in a manner that allows you to remove culpability from yourself without actually citing the fact that you suspect the cards are trimmed. Try this, "I suspect this card may have been trimmed".

I couldn't agree more....if you think that they are trimmed, say so. It will save both you and your buyers from problems and disappointment in the future.

I think what bothers me the most about the listings is that the cards are being sold as NM or MINT. That is terribly misleading, especially when as you guys said, the seller absolutely knows about the trimming.

For me, any auctions that have "L@@K", "W@W!" .. or even worse - "Blazer!" (especially on ones that will clearly low-grade) I'll pass on.
