Default High-Grade T206 Drums?

Posted By: MVSNYC

i already have a PSA 1...but, i might have an opportunity to trade one of my T206 PSA 8 commons for a T206 PSA 4 drum back...

which got me thinking...what is the highest graded Drum that any of you own or have seen? all i really ever see are 1's...some 2's and every now and then a 3...but i never see 4's or above...

i think it would be a pretty close trade, value-wise, but i would love to hear some of your opinions, please...

There has been a couple PSA 4 Drum 350's sold...a Warhop for $2000 and a Griffith (batting) for $4270.

Default High-Grade T206 Drums?

Hi Michael,
The highest Graded Drum in existence is a PSA 7 of Clark Griffith Batting, there are a few 4's including a Speaker and a Johnson, but I haven't seen any 5's or 6's. I have seen 2 EX examples in old auction catalogs, but haven't seen them in person. I have 8 Drums at the moment, but all are 4 or under, these cards are tough in any condition, but in EX or better they are ultra tough.

Good luck Brian

just a note to add-it seems most Drums are low grade a there are more of them with Sweeney on the front than any other that I have seen.
there was another Sweeney at Reading this past weekend.
I own 3 Drums -1 PSA 4 and a SGC 40 and 1 raw that is probably a grade 1.

I've asked this question before and never got a response. Were the Drum cigarettes higher priced than Piedmont or were the cigarettes so bad tasting that no body purchased them and thats why drum backs are so rare? Or was the production run of cards so short that they are rare? Can the scarcity of the backs be traced to a horrible product or just expensive packs? Thanks for any replies. Joe

People said it was a million dollar wound. But the government must keep that money, cause I ain't never seen a penny of it.

Hi Joe,
Drum was a discount Brand of Cigs, selling 20 for 5 cents as opposed to Piedmont or Sweet Cap which were 10 for 5. The Drum Brand was purchased by the ATC in 1907 or 08 and converted from a loose tobacco brand into a discount Cigarette brand, so they probably weren't well known or advertized, and probably produced in low numbers.

be well Brian

Hi Mike,
Congrats on the Uzit!! Which Player and pose? I need to make sure I have him on record.

PS Once you go HD, you can't go back. I can hardly watch a game that's not in HD, I am way too spoiled.

Stay warm Brian
