HUGE 16" x 20" Photo - 1942 or 1944 Homestead Grays Team Photo w/Josh Gibson.

This is a 1970's Print. Most likely than what is considered a Type IV, hey it's 50 some years old!

But the neat thing about this photo is that it came from an estate in Pittsburgh.
Seller stated it belonged at one time to Ethel Posey, wife of HOFer Cum Posey, the Founder & Manager of the Homestead Grays.
On the photo typed, remember typewriters?...."donated by Mrs Ethel Posey and James L. Hill".
Not sure if this photo was thus given to a library or a museum in or near Pittsburgh. Seller just didn't have much info.
Might make a good research project to see if anything more can be dug up on this.

Ethel Posey was born in 1893 and died in 1986.

The names of the players are typed out (guessing by Ethel Posey back in the 1970's) on the 2 pieces of paper that are placed in front of the photo, under the glass.
Some nicknames were used instead of actual names, probably because that's what she referred to them as back in the day.

Another very neat thing is that it is signed by the photographer of this photo Charles "Teenie" Harris, the Charles Conlon of Negro League Photography.

The team featuring HOFers Josh Gibson, Buck Leonard and Ray Brown are shown standing on the field where the Grays played their home games, Forbes Field.

Now if this was an original Type 1 Photo it would probably go for 10's of Thousands of Dollars, anything Josh Gibson related is on the moon.
Here is your chance to get it at a fraction of that, and it displays amazingly. A piece of Negro League History.
