Landed a couple that I hoped other bidders might not focus on (sure) and went over budget, but what's new. Wonder if this auction will be the last one conducted by Rob Lifson. Somehow I just can't see him just walking him away completely and leaving it to his colleagues at REA. I did land:
1. N162 Goodwin's Keefe
2. D359 Livingston Williams Baking
3. E145 1914 McGraw
4. E126 Walter Johnson
5. '34 R320 Greenberg and Appling (been after a nice copy of Hank's RC and this one fit the bill. Tough and popular card.)
6. N172 Clarkson BVG 6.5 - thought this was my hope for some kind of bargain and snagged it during after hours bidding when I was cross-eyed from fatigue.
What will I do for excitement now? Mile High is still running, and I hope I am not remiss in mentioning two cards I have consigned that I think offer some value, the T206 Cobby green PSA VG 3, where the obverse is just beautiful, and the E92 Nadja Wagner batting PSA Vg 3, which I believe I am correct in saying that it is the only batting pose graded by any TPG company. Nadja's, for those who collect them, can be tough for the HOF'ers not playing for St. Louis. This card does not come around very often. John (Leon, I hope it all right to do a bit of hyping. If not I will retract.)

After much thought, I decided to go after the Rube Foster cabinet. I want to congratulate & apologize at the same time to the winner. I have no idea what his/her high bid was, but sadly it was beyond mine. Congrats!

Congrats to all the REA winners - lots of fantastic items in this thread! I batted .222 (i.e., 2 for 9), picking up this N690 Kalamazoo Bats (I had to get one with an ad back) and this Leader Theatre for my type collection:

Hello J and thank you. Plus after I mix and match with my existing higher grade Ob's it will be a blazer of a set!

I won this one. It's always been my favorite Cobb image. Also, my invoice still doesn't show any shipping charges?

Does anyone know who won the A.J. Reach tin advertising sign? I thought it was the one of the coolest items in the whole shebang. And at $45k one of the priciest!

I was able to finish my '14 CJ set by locking down the JJ! and decided to upgrade my favorite all-time card to this PSA 5 Cobb. Won some upgrades to my CJ set and a nice T206 Cobb Red and #181 Goudey Ruth. My favorite item of the night though was the type I photo of Tris Speaker with his trademark sneer.
Happy to see someone on the board picked up the T206 Cobb, enjoyed it for many years.

Since this thread has been resurrected...if anyone won Lot 59 and Lot 65 and are going to flip any of the cards, I would appreciate the opportunity to acquire the Cahill in Lot 59 and the Arundel in Lot 65. Those are the poses I have on the glass plate negatives and would love to have the matching N172s.

Thanks!

Default REA SPoils

Here are my two cards I won at the REA Auction:

1915 E106 Mathewson SGC 1.5
T205 Lee ML PSA 7

On EBay this morning picked up
A T205 Collins ML PSA 6

Not gonna say I made any deals but I got
What I was looking for. In it for the long hall.

Also have a quickie question if you would be so
Kind to answer. Do T205 Hobs no stats come up
For sale ever? I'm thinking the registry people own
them all. Thanks in advance

Concerning the T205 Hobs no stats, they do come up, just not too often. With scouring auctions, ebay and other places I see a few a year for sale on average, I guess.

This just arrived from REA. I usually stick to T206s, but I've always wanted one of these:

Halloween and the recent Fall REA reminded me that I said I would post pics of me wearing my 1952 Red Sox uni (Harry Taylor) that I scored in the 2016 Spring REA.

So here goes:

Please note that my post above bumped the SPRING 2016 REA thread...this is the old SPRING thread.

There is a different, recent thread for FALL 2016 REA wins and losses.

No doubt this will create some confusion...sorry for that!

Cheers,
Blair

Sean that's a great card. I didn't even see it in their auction. How much you end up paying?

Hi there,

You can search REAs website and you will get the exact price including the BP when you locate the lot.

You can search a specific auction, or all past REA auctions. Very useful for gathering valuation data.

Cheers,
Blair

Congrats big time, Pete. I was the under bidder on the '23-24 Exhibit Ruth, having the high bid until the last few minutes. Anyone know who got it? Want to sell it for a bit of a profit? PM me! I did strike what I felt was a reasonable deal off the buy it now price on the 1917-1920 M 101-6 Felix Mendelsohn Walter Johnson off ebay shortly after the auction finished, however, which I am pretty pleased with (PSA 3 VG--almost certainly graded a few years back--with a slight bit of paper loss off the edge of the upper left border, but otherwise a nice card of the pitcher that JAWS ranks numero uno of all time. Tough to argue with 417 wins and a career ERA almost 50% below league average, but they base it on Wins Above Replacement, which I personally am not altogether comfortable with. IMHO, its Johnson and Lefty Grove in a dead heat for the best ever).

Great wins to those of you that did,

Larry
