Default Help With a Honus Wagner Signed Piece

I am interested in this signed Honus Wagner piece on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Honus-Wagner-Sig...item588a1a8069

Although it has been certified and encapsulated by PSA, after reading autographalert.com I wonder if this is an authentic signed piece.

I realize autographalert.com is a controversial site and that they have blown the mistakes PSA have made out of proportion and that no autograph expert will get it right 100% of the time.

The signature at the bottom of the piece, signed "Honus" does look quite different than other PSA-Wagner autographs I have seen.

Any help and opinions would be most appreciated.

thanks,

Mike

Wagner's signature varied as much as anyone's. It could resemble a beautiful artistic and ornate scripting, or just as easily look like something scrawled by a 3rd grader while riding horseback and having a seizure.

I can't even see this one on my cell phone screen, but if PSA authenticated it, it's probably good. The site you referenced is very adept at creating controversy where there is none. I don't know the author's history, but he clearly has an axe to grind with PSA and Spence. It really bothers me that he doesn't shift his focus to the obvious crooks in the hobby.

Mike - signature looks fine to me. It's somewhat similar to one I have in my collection... a signed envelope from Wagner's estate. Note that it is addressed to Fern Bell who debuted with Pittsburgh in 1939.

I'd trust psa on that one. Keep in mind that it's not really an autograph. It is his first name written in his typical cursive as a formal notation. I know, what's the difference? It really depends on the collector, and whether they're looking for an autograph, or just an authentically written name....Great piece though. It's just as good if not better to me, because it's more personalized than just a typical sig. If I had the money, I'd be all over it.

thanks everone, i really appreciate your help. I spoke with the seller and will move forward with it.

I really like the piece and have always been in awe of the t206 card and really like the way the piece was framed.
