I think that the more Ebay adds (I think they want breakdowns in 5+ areas??) the more likely people will be to NOT fill it out and further avoid leaving it. Think you'll see more negatives filed, positive people won't waste the time..

I definately think the days of people having 100% feedback will be gone. I haven't read through all of it yet..but I'm assuming with the five categories if someone doesn't leave a perfect score in one of the categories it will reflect on your total feedback percentage?

I saw the email this morning and it looked like they made the process more complicated. Many people may stop leaving feedback as a result.

Unfortunately, I can't think of too many Ebay changes the past couple of years I have liked. The old feedback system wasn't perfect, but I like it far more than what I am seeing now. I believe the reason Ebay is doing it is to punish sellers that will sell an item for $.99 with $20 shipping (avoiding some ebay fees). One of the feedback categories is shipping cost.

What I also don't like is there is now a category for shipping time. You won't be able to ship things first class and make everybody happy...so now you get penalized for how long it takes the USPS to get something to someone.

the shipping thing stinks. I sell a lot of records and the way I keep shipping costs down is by using media mail. I usually get them out fast, but media mail can be slow and very unpredictable. I can imagine getting slammed for something I didn't do.

Forget about sellers leaving feedback first.

If someone pays me with paypal I usually get all orders out in 1-2 days. So now if one of those packages gets delayed in transit I risk getting negative feedback. That's going to make for a lot of unhappy sellers.

It seems every time ebay makes a policy change it is an unpopular one. Have any of these muckety-mucks ever sold something on ebay themselves?

I agree with you fellas regarding the new ebay changes. Seems like they tried to improve things and made it worse. I am not sure if the seller would receive a negative if all of the new categories don't get 100% on the rating. I think this information will be available seperately from the positive, negative or neutral comment. It is an additional set of criteria that will give buyers a better understanding of that sellers overall performance. At least I think this is what ebay intends. I don't like the shipping category because as it has been stated already you have no control over that when the package leaves your hands. Guess we will have to see how it works out.
Great weekend to all.

As long as you ship within a couple of days (state this in your listing - "Item usually ships with x business days" option) and send a delivery confirmation number to the buyer, the ship date/time stamp should give you enough evidence to contact eBay about removing any negative ratings. Listings still say the following directly below the shipping methods, as well:

"Sellers are not responsible for service transit time. This information is provided by the carrier and excludes weekends and holidays. Note that transit times may vary, particularly during peak periods."

you've gotten me into Ollie...... While no longer selling directly on eBay, I sold nearly 10,000 items there in the past. I figured it was my responsibility to leave feedback the moment I got paid. As a frequent BUYER I would leave feedback when the item came; provided it matched the listing and was received timely. I have noticed that sellers on average are no longer leaving me feedback in advance of getting a positive themselves, and that's without an even more cumbersome feedback system as is being implimented now. I surmise a good deal less feedback will be left by sellers/buyers and will reflect mostly transactions in which the buyer or seller are looking for the feedback to bolster their own lower ratings. I no longer leave feedback without the seller doing so. If these ego-centric and miopic behaviors start to occur on a global scale, it suggests an eventual undermining of the intent and purpose behind the system that eBay was FOUNDED on.... When all is said and done it's all about ME"-)

thru the morass. I must admit it is I. Concurrent with this posting I have added my bio to the most recent thread. Annonimity is for the weak. I am new to this board and the non-sport site.
It didn't take long to review every thread on the NSB. It appears a more daunting task here; more people, more controversy, more/more/more. Good thing I have no life and a great deal of time and patience.
I have noted that the other board seems a bit more civil but in defense of this place; sometimes you have to crack a few eggs to make the omelete. My first thought is that Leon and Tom MUST be applauded for bringing their respective sites to fruition and their handling of the delicate and mostly thankless task as moderators. I have spoken to both in person and best as I can tell they are what-you-see-is-what-you-get.
After reading a pair of ML threads that exceeded 560 responses I am in no condition to comment further here and now about anythink (Malapropism added for creative effect). I hope to contribute in the future and I am thankful for a forum in which EVERYONE & ANYONE can comment without fear of reprisal.
BTW Barry I have a lot of respect for you that seems to be a sentiment echoed by the board overall (I see it in every thread) AND you hail from Brooklyn! Only thing is that modern day icons typically are known by their initials or ONE name (certainly the initials BS wouldn't be good) and "Barry" might bring someone else to mind in a baseball forum. Would NSB (no steroids Barry) be appropriate?

JOKE: Did you hear the one about the one-armed fisherman??

He caught a fish THIS big (take arm and move outstretched to one side....)

Hi Henry- it is you. Welcome to the board. You have a lot to contribute, so stick around. I would call you a fellow Brooklynite but you abandoned us for the Florida sun belt...where it's a law that when you reach 65 you must wear white shoes!

It seems to me that every time ebay makes a change, it's for the worse. I was under the impression that this was a company that listened to its users through this big ebay events. I find it hard to believe that a decent number of users find all these changes beneficial. Then again, I started using ebay in 1997 or 1998 when it was much different. I actually liked it more back then.

Change your socks, drink water, and drive on.

I think it's a good thing. I had 100% feedback until I ran into a seller that could not wait 36 hrs for a $13 payment. It was Easter Sunday and I did two BIN's from my cell phone. I did not get a chance to check my emails until Tuesday. But I paid  for the items Tuesday morning with pay pal. She got her money within like I said 36 hrs. I checked my email Tuesday afternoon and found three emails for payment. She writes 1st request, 2nd request and 3rd request. And when I email her asking what her problem is all about she cancels my pay pal payment and leaves me two negs. I don't know who some of these sellers think they are but they are getting very demanding if they want their money that fast. So there goes my perfect feedback, so you know what I will start to leave neg's if I do not receive my item's within a week of paying for them. Rob
