Default Sort of OT: Old Car With Connection to Christy Mathewson

Just saw this old car on Ebay, 1950 Packard. Original owner was the wife of Christy Mathewson and the story says she got it as gift from the dealer, honoring her late husband.

It was also Packards 50th anniversary, so maybe the dealer figured on making the gift as publicity.

If Mathewson was awarded a Packard during his playing days it might have even been done with the help of the factory.

All in all it's a pretty nice example of a car that's not all that common, and it seems to have some nice documentation even if it was bought rather than given as a gift.

That is a fantastic looking car, great story and provenance. And even without the Matty connection the car is outstanding.
