Default National Memorabilia and Photos

For those of us not attending, if you are in Chicago and see Memorabilia that’s super special or that blows you away, please post. Living vicariously is better then not living at all.

I really need to get back to a National. The last one I went to was in 1988.

I think you would set the record for between Nationals!

Maybe so! From about age 14-18, I worked for Ron Durham in NJ. Ron was a show promoter who held shows at the Hasbrouck Heights Sheraton. He used to run a little card shop in NJ as well called the Dugout. Ron had DiMaggio, Rizzuto, Mattingly, Gooden, Billy Martin and others at his shows. Greatest memories of my youth. When Ron got the National in A/C and asked me to work it, I was in heaven!

No, it's a dubious record but my last National was in 1986 in Arlington. I plan to make the next Chicago show as it normally comes around my grandson's birthday (which is today) and I can justify the trip. I'd hoped to go this year but my wife had a trip planned.

I went to last years National and may have missed it a table or two, but I can count on one hand tables with more than 10 photos. I get it is a subsection of the industry, but I was pretty surprised.

I know I look each time at the Philly show the last year or so and maybe I see a table or two.

I am sure Rhys is at the show, so I suspect he will have a great array of photos to see.

Honestly the most interesting thing I saw (and I’m not a Trekkie by any means) was the wide array of costumes and props from the original Star Trek series. Heritage is auctioning a major collection. It felt surreal to see these things close-up and in-person. That show and Lost in Space are my earliest color TV memories.

They had some incredible props from the original Batman TV series too. So crude looking in person. I would post some pics, but the site won’t allow me to post pics from my cell.

Michael B. - I'm guessing there's no Olympic area anymore like there used to be some years ago in Chicago. It used to be an entire room of like a good 50 tables. Right ?

They did not have a section for Olympic memorabilia at this year's show.

Thanks for the fabulous pics, what a lot of stuff to drool over! Especially love the collection of "ABC plates"--had several at one time, but gave up on getting them all. Any idea what that collection pictured would have run me?

Agree with Hank! Thanks for the pics, Carlton.... I walked by some of that stuff without even knowing.

Hey Carlton or anyone who saw it...
Do you recall if the Villeroy & Boch pieces were being sold individually or as a set? These are the 3 tan colored baseball-themed Cups and matching Water Pitcher. Perhaps if Matt used the Pitcher to serve ice water to the public, I might've actually noticed it.

Thanks for sharing! Are all the photos of Matt Hart’s booth below the photo that states it or just that one photo? I’m wondering whose booth is that photo with the football lace up vest. If you know the name of the vendor, could you share? I’d like to try to reach out. I unfortunately wasn’t able to attend. Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark...no just the booth marked Mat Hart is Mat's...the lace-up FB smock was Corey Leiby's....his link above....Corey and Brett Lowman were side by side...as I believe Bob McCann was on the other side of Corey...Corey in the middle of them...
