Default Cy Young and Joe Casey - E92-ish

Hello all, new to the forum with a question about a couple of cards from a collection I recently took on consignment. I have been able to identify the rest of the collection (baseball and other tobacco, caramel and strip cards from the early 1900s). But these two cards, though they use the recto images from the E92 set, have blank backs and are on fairly heavy cardboard stock. They don't *seem* to have been mounted, but I am not absolutely sure.

Condition, as you can see, is not good, with quite a bit of smudging to the Young in particular.

Can anyone tell me where these might have come from? I haven't been able to find any references to these images with blank versos.

While better scans of front and back would certainly be helpful...blank backed e92's are known...and are not that uncommon.

Thanks. Sorry about the scans - trying to be careful about size/bandwidth. Here are a couple that should be better:

Curious! They appear to be hand cut possibly cut from a sheet many moons ago.

As Pete mentioned, blank backed e92's can be found (below is a Chase I have) and I agree they look like they may have been handcut from a sheet a long time ago. When you say they are on heavy cardboard stock, are you talking like a T206 or heavier like a box material? If you are putting them up for auction, please let me know when and where as I may be interested in the Young.

The card stock is very stiff, with almost no flex. Like a Bisquick box thickness, if you are familiar with that (I haven't had a T206, so I can't compare to those). I will be putting these up for auction this evening, and will post links. Thanks for the assistance.

I've never seen or heard of e92's that stiff? Could they be mounted on something?

I think they ARE mounted. I just looked at them again with magnifying glass and can see just enough to suggest that this is a thin card on top of a thick stock. I am listing them accordingly. Here are the links, these will kick off at 7:00 and 7:05 PM PDT tonight. Thanks again!

I'm gonna guess these were glued onto a piece of cardboard with other cards as a display and then the display was cut up.
