Default 1948 Ruth Address Book

Now that the ebay auction is over was wondering if any board members have ever seen one of these leather Ruth address books before ? Tried google to find any info but couldn`t come up with any other examples. Liked the look and seems like an affordable way to obtain a decent Ruth related item. Enclosed is ebay link, thanks for any net 54 knowledge !

Brown and Bigelow item. The image is fairly common around these parts. They also made items with a Lou Gehrig image.

I doubt it would be exactly 1948 as Ruth died in August of 1948 and that picture was painted after that. I always thought they were made in the 50's. But i don't see where the book says it was from 1948 either. Just the seller. The Brown Bigelow prints would show the older players with young Little Leaguers, but the deceased ones in the clouds.

The paintings were commissioned by the HOF and they Brown and Bigalow made calanders, note books, playing cards, blotters and other office type items with the images.

The Ruth was the first in the series and was from1950. The series continued till 1972 with Jackie Robinson being the last.

Default Address Book

Jim, Randall and Jason thanks very much for the info. Looking through Bigelow and Brown info found many items but was unable to find this Ruth item. Got it from the ebay seller the other day and happily it`s even nicer than the description and will look good in the hobby room. Net 54 certainly is the go too place for baseball knowledge !
