Default e94 overprint question

Posted By: peter ullman

I was perusing Leon's site...more specifically his e94 overprints. In addition to his...I've probably seen 10-15 others and I don't remember ever seeing a top tier hof'er on any of these...no cobb...no wagner...is this odd to anyone?

Just a bored Jew on xmas.

Peter, I volunteer every Wednesday at a local non-profit, and when I went in yesterday afternoon (Christmas Eve) I noticed that all the other volunteers in attendance were Jewish (One's a Rabbi, so that one's pretty easy to figure out). I didn't know if that was coincidence or they were the only other volunteers willing to volunteer on Christmas Eve. Me? I'm just a dumb Norwegian who blindly follows his schedule that says he comes in at noon on Wednesdays.

ha ha ha! I actually looked for volunteer opportunities for xmas...and had a really hard time finding anything worthwhile! One of the only bars open last night was catering to all the Jews in MN...it was actually pretty packed...and they gave out free chinese food and had some jewish rappers...pretty cool.

My act of volunteerism is that I'm cooking a nice dinner for some of my catholic friends who have nowhere to go!!!

Of the 20-30 total overprints (and underprints) I have seen I can recall a few Speakers, of which I still have one, some Cicottes, of which I have 2, but no Wagners or Cobbys or Youngs, that I can remember....and I think it was Quan that mentioned there are a few players that seem to pop up with an overprint more than others....I have 2 Byrnes and believe I have seen multiple Lakes and Bates'. In addition to these 10 different overprints below I have also seen a few with the minor captions being different.......best regards.....and we have all seen them a million times but since we are here....

edited to say that the Speaker is:
Home Run for Closes Butter Balls (a rare one)

Leon- Suprisingly (or maybe not so) my Lake overprint is also olive, my Cicotte is also green and my Byrne is also violet, just like yours (colors the same). Coincidence?
tbob
P.S. I have never seen a Lobert, McGraw, Cobb, Wagner or Devore overprinted back (doesn't mean there aren't any).

PSA 3 sold thru Mastro several years ago, I imagine someone could find it in one of the catalogues. Didn't bring much more than a regular E94 Cobb when it sold sad.gif

Tbob may recall I bought it off Teletrade

I had E98's Old Put's of McGraw, Mack and Young. The E94 was blue Cobb with the "Your Out" Oppie Dildock back.

Hi Scott. I vaguely remember that one but like Leon, for some reason I thought it was an E98 Old Put.
