Default In search of a book...

I posted this over in the BST but no luck there so far. I thought I would give it a try here. Anyone have a copy of Erik Varon's book to sell? I would like to buy a copy of his book on the Philadelphia Caramel Company from 2009. I know there were only 100 copies and he has no more. If you have a copy that you are willing to part with, please let me know. I can best be reached at rchilders1973@gmail.com. Thanks.

Robert,

You're not the first person whose asked about purchasing a copy of this book.
You are correct in that only one print run of 100 books were printed in 2009.
Unfortunately, all 100 copies are now sold out.

I'm looking into making it available in an ebook format. I don't know what all
is involved, so it may be some time before it becomes available. If I am able
to market it in this format, the price will be significantly less than the original
cover price of $12.99. While I still need to look into this, my guess would be
selling it around $1.99 per ebook. As I learn more I'll keep the board posted.

Erik, thanks for the knowledge. I look forward to reading it. The e cards, especially e95 and e96, are very appealing.

Robert et al,

I'm looking into having another print run made of my book. I've contacted the
original printing company I used in 2009 to see if this is possible. If I can get
more books printed I'd like to get an idea how many people would like to
purchase a copy. I will then place the order after I get an idea as to how many
books I need. The price would be the same as the original amount, $12.99
plus $3.00 s/h.

I'm hoping to have an answer soon regarding this second print run. Soon as I
hear something I'll let the board know.

Thanks,

ErikV

I collect e95 and would sign up to buy a copy. I think the history of the cards/company is a big part of the overall appeal for me.

Here's an update about reprinting copies of the book. I am able to have more
copies made. I need to order 15 copies to sell it at the $12.99 price. So far, I
have 8 people wanting copies. If I could get 7 more I'll go ahead and place an
order. In order to give everyone a chance to decide if they want to order a
copy, I'll give it a week and will repost how many people are interested in
purchasing a copy.

If you are interested in a copy, please PM with your name and the number of
copies you'd like to purchase.

Thanks,

ErikV

All,

For those who've expressed interest in purchasing a copy of my book about the
Philadelphia Caramel Company I'm now ready to place the order as I've collected
the minimum 15 books needed to proceed. If you did not initially PM me, but
would still like to order a copy you may still do so. I do need everyone to send
their payment to me by this Sunday, January 31st. The order will be placed
first thing Monday morning, February 1st.

Once ordered I will not order additional books. Additionally, this book WILL NOT
be available on Amazon, Barnes-Noble or the like, so this will likely be the last
opportunity for you to purchase a copy of this book for yourself. The printing
company will take 2 days to print the books and 4 BUSINESS days for delivery to
my residence. I SHOULD receive the books by February 9th and place them in the
mail on February 10th.

I will keep everyone updated with periodic updates.

Please submit PayPal payment of $12.99 + $3.00 s/h to star6240@att.net.
Please indicate if you would like the book signed or inscribed.

Your cooperation would be much appreciated!

Thank you,

ErikV

P.S. A re-edit from my original post is to clarify: 4 BUSINESS day shipment to my
residence. Sorry for any inconvenience or misunderstanding this may have caused.

I currently only collect tobacco cards but have thought about trying to get into the caramel issues. Hard to pass up at this price so I'm all in.

I have not read it and cannot vouch for it. What I can vouch for, however, is seeing several people looking for a copy of this in the past when they were sold out. To me, that made it worth it and I'm looking forward to getting my copy.

How crazy is it that you can come on here in the hopes for some help in finding a book and not only do you get help, but you get help from the author himself.

This really is a one of a kind site.

Default In search of a book...UPDATE

Just a quick update for those who ordered a copy of the book. Everything is on
schedule. The books have been printed and have shipped out. I'm expecting
the shipment of books to arrive at my residence on Tuesday, February 9th. I
will post the next update when they show up.

Additionally, one board member purchased a small quantity of extra books.
He will soon have both hard cover and soft cover books available. If you
missed purchasing a copy from me you can contact board member, Denny via
PM (screenname irishdenny) or email him at irishdenny@gmail.com.

Thank You.

Coolest thing that's happened since I joined this board: I was able to buy a book on a topic I have tremendous interest in directly from the author. Thank you!

The book arrived yesterday - really well done, a pleasure to thumb through. I'll finish reading tonight. Really a welcome addition to my collection - just think if a book like this could be done for every card producer!

Mine arrived yesterday as well. Pretty sure the package got ran over by a truck (literal tread marks on it) but the book was unharmed . Looking forward to reading it this weekend.
