Default Holy Cow!!

I know it's a nice example of a PSA 2, but does this open the floodgates to what was previously thought to be unfathomable prices for Goudey Ruths? Sheesh . . .

My guess is they have a 2.5 for sale in the near future...setting the stage.

That is one fine looking “2”. Card is usually out of focus. Better than a $2mm Tom Brady 1:100.

Default The 21 Exhibit

SGC 5 was "stolen" tonight for 20k minutes before the Goudey sold. Weird.

I am actively buying and selling vintage sports cards graded and raw. Feedback as a buyer: https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=297262

I am accepting select private consignments of quality vintage cards (raw or graded) and collecting "want" lists for higher end ($1K+) vintage cards.

Howard,

Can you post a link? I do not see that in completed auctions on Ebay?

Thanks, Mike

I think this sale officially makes my 2 piece Goudey Ruth a 4 digit card...finally!

Brian,
Let's re-think this. Put on a beret, call it modern art, turn it digital and set up an NFT. 7 figures easy, you're welcome.

The more typical PSA 2 sold one minute earlier for $13.7K (still a great price) so perhaps some perspective is in order.

Brian,

It's a def PSA 4.

4 leaf clover that is!

Cool to see! Better than mine since I do not own one!

Thanks Phil for the 3 digit (or figures) boost idea!

I believe what Scott is saying is that my card valuation likely needs to be cut in half.

I feel lucky to have the thing.

I would never say that Brian. Your card is “unique,” “interesting” and “special.”

I was watching that one to Howard. I'm kind of conflicted, I was the under bidder on that Heritage 181 3.5 Ruth with incredible centering and eye appeal at Heritage last week that went for 20k. Of the two I'd rather have the 181 but the Exhibit is undervalued imo.

Hey, not the first time that I heard that, but in the past they were talking about me, and they always seemed to emphasize the "special" word.

Do you have a link for that one? It appears that it, along with the $20,000 Ruth 5, and the $43,000 Ruth 2 that I reference in the OP have all been scrubbed from eBay's ended listings? Seriously, eBay doesn't seem to show that a single original Goudey Ruth card listing even ended on March 29th. Strange!

I had a very good hunch what this thread was going to be about before I clicked! Ever since I picked up my SGC 3.5 WWG last year, I've been watching the Goudeys closely.

I got giddy when I saw this PSA 2 sell so high because it looks so much like mine from an eye appeal perspective. I understand WWG doesn't sell as well as Goudey, but put it up on ebay for 50k obo for funsies just to see if I would get any bites

Thanks for being a good sport Brian! Just having a little fun. I honestly think your Ruth "card" might fetch four figures in the current environment.

I disagree. Brian’s Ruth is actually the extremely rare “castrated Babe” and would likely fetch five figures in the current market. Once that happens expect the card doctors to begin creating higher grade exemplars by using a hole punch rather than the slashing technique to complete the procedure. Trust me, I’m a doctor.

I knew I should have entrusted Frank with my Babe castration. In the medical world he is known by his well-deserved "Ticklebert Humperdinck" nickname.
