Default My new pinback displays and my wife's crucial mistake ;)

I picked up these terrific wood framed shadow boxes the other day 1/2 off and hot glued black fleece to the foam backing. I put them in a corner under my shelves and am pretty pleased with the results.

Now onto the best part of the story. So...my wife walks in after hearing me pounding nails in the wall and says "Those look great, but you really need to add a lot more pins to that Tigers display to make it look better". OH NO SHE DI-ENT This is the hobby equivalent of a Hall Pass right?!?!?!? Life is good

Thanks fellas. The inside of frame dimensions are 16x20. If anyone has pre 1970 Tigers or Cubs pins available, please let me know.

Al...I saved the links to our old posts regarding pins, and yours are amazing my friend.

Thanks Mike! I like the size of those boxes. Boy I would love to do a good buy or trade with some of the boys but it seems that I cant get Greg or Andy to let go anything! Here is one of my more recent pick ups and it did cost me a pretty penny!

Very nice Nellie Fox pin Al. That's a really tough one -- I remember seeing one in the Bill Mastro collection auction.

The one in the REA auction went way too cheap in my opinion and it even had the Mighty Mites Club card and newsletter with it.

Thanks Mike and Greg this one was the one that came out of the REA auction along with the original membership card and large mimeographed booklet all about what the mighty mites were all about.

More fantastic pins from Mike and Al. Boy, did I miss the boat on pin-backs years ago. And Mike, seeing those terrific green walls again, reminded me that your skill as a craftsman is only rivaled by your keen eye for collecting. Both of which are really top-notch!

Hey Mike............The display looks great! I have that Tigers/Briggs Stadium pinback for your collection I mentioned before. I'll bring it over the next time 'the group' of Michiganders/Northern Ohioans gets together. Take care..............Matt

Here are three new pinback additions I am excited about. The Yankees is simply a classic design that was a steal on ebay. The Sock it to em is a very rare pin and another ebay bargain.

The 1940 Tigers (this is a World Series pin) was a garage sale find today for $4.00!!!!!!: It is a very tough pin to find and I'm thrilled.

Mike- that 1940 Tigers pin is rare indeed. Finding a pin like that at a garage sale is amazing. Heck, finding a garage sale in Michigan this time of year is no small feat in itself. Congrats again.

Default Nice!

Hi Mike - incredible find at a garage sale! I like it!

I've never gone to one of those sales - that "one" pin would make my year! Congratulations on the pickup.

Congrats on the nice pickup Al..not only the pinback, but the membership card and newsletter are probably just as rare as the pin.

This one was actually on ebay and someone talked the seller into ending it early for $25. I immediately contacted the seller to let him know he just made a HUGE mistake by ending it for $25 (Sorry if I interfered with anyone in here, but I wasn't going to let this guy get ripped off like that)...the seller and I talked by phone over what he should do with the Mighty Mites club stuff and I pointed him to REA..I felt bad for the seller that these items went so cheaply compared to the Mastro pin, but at least he got more than $25 for it.

Dan,
I myself was very surprised at the price it finished for. Having the card and the membership booklet is a great help as it lets me and others know where this pin came from because I myself was in the dark as to why this pin was made and who were the mighty mites. After reading thru the booklet it all made sense! Dan also if you still have the mans info feel free the pass on my info I would love to talk to him about the pin. Al
