Default March Pickups....

With just hours to go until March, I figured why not start it with what I received today. A huge thank you to Cerberus!

1910 tax stamp, Factory No. 30, 4th District, NC

Default It's been a busy 2013, especially lately!

It's been a really good month so far -- when it rains it pours, I guess.

First, I reacquire three old friends of mine, signed T205s of Doyle, Bridwell and Jones:

Then, I acquired this really tough signed T206 of Al Bridwell -- love the specificity of the date on the back (yes, Bridwell always signed on the back of tobacco cards for some reason):

Lastly, I added another T201 with the Jefferson Burdick stamp. I now have two!

Love these!
I do like signed cards with dates. For me, it adds a bit of personalization.

Default +2 epdg=64

The Donovan is an upgrade (yet still trimmed); Bradley is new. Now at 64. BTW, I think my scanner has a dead spot as the "I" in Rice is missing on the scan of the Bradley, but it is on the card. Weird. Time for a new V33 I guess.

For me it would be the Piedmont but only by a hair. They are really close and it is more about what appeals to you more. I think the Piedy has a bit better centering.....but that is just my opinion. I think you should just keep both.

Thanks guys I was thinking the same but the color on the 55 was just a tad better and the centering on the 60 was better...so I was beating my head aginst the wall a bit.

Cheers,

John

I'd sell both and buy more OJs

Seriously, I think the Piedmont back Matty looks better, not sure why I think this, it just seems like it has better color/registration.

John, your OJs are ridiculous!

I'll throw in a vote for the Sweet Cap. The surface looks much cleaner, the Piedmont looks like its been handled more. If the SC didn't have the slight diamond cut it would be an even easier decision, for me.

+1

I just don't like the surface stains on the Piedmont, find them distracting.

Cool OJ's.

Thanks! Those matty/devlin cards are tough!. I have over 150 t202s and still need two of them. I didnt think that would go under $300 as there is a sgc20 in sterling that's at $175 with a week left.

I was surprised to see the final price also.. The only reason I thought to bid was because it looked like it could be had for a reasonable price. I got mine as a loan bidder for an opening bid of I think $295.. And i felt lucky. I love those T202s, the combo of portraits and action shot and all great write ups.. But it seems like prices keep slipping. I'll keep picking them up though. Good luck getting your last few cards!

Are you collecting set of just center panels or center panels with every side combo? I recently finished set of center panels regardless of side cards.

I have dreamed about owning a Babe Ruth card since I collected cards as a kid. Luckily I was recently able to make it happen. I recently purchased this card off of eBay (from someone I didn't know was a board member at the time).

I specifically sought out this card because it depicts the Babe in his first year with the Yankees and lists him as a pitcher.

Holding this card makes me feel like a kid again.

I specifically sought out this card because it depicts the Babe in his first year with the Yankees and lists him as a pitcher.

Holding this card makes me feel like a kid again.
Nice card and nice sentiment Alex. I feel the same way. I collect T206, but I had to get a Babe Ruth just because..... I also got him as a Yankee, but with a pitching pose.

Very happy to get my first Leader Novelty card. The back is perfect. If someone can identify the "MK", please let me know. I'd also like to know why this card graded "3" instead of "6". But I'm glad it was undergraded. Cheaper for me. And it will be liberated from its plastic prison soon anyhow.

I just picked up these cards to add to my Sovereign collection. Always looking for Sovereigns that I don't have. Bill
