Default A slab-busting first

Posted By: Frank Wakefield

Today seemed a good day for busting some slabs and liberating cards.

One slab was from PSA, it was holding an E102 deserving of clemency. Oddly enough, he wasn't in the thin plastic sleeve inside the slab. The sleeve was in there, but he was resting on top of it. That seemed a bit odd, and I had not noticed it while the slab was intact.

Any other slabbusters out there notice such stuff??

is that they are always on top of the sleeve, I have popped dozens and never seen a card inside the sleeve. Don't know why, it seems it would give the corners much more protection.

Maybe I just never paid attention to it before. But I thought the others were inside the sleeve. I might have to bust another to see...

It has been my experience that the insert is not a sleeve that the card can go into, but in-fact a sheet. The card is always on top of the sheet if you're looking at the front of the card.

The more recently graded cards on top. I think they are trying to avoid the wrinkled baggie look over the card front.

For what is't worth, I just cracked out a 1912 Zeenut and it also rested on top of the baggie.

Not just prewar, and not all that recent. I popped out a '49 Bowman last summer and it, too, was on top of the baggie.
