Default Alternative first cards

I don't think we've done this in quite some time.

Still don't know who issued this card but it comes from the 1959 Dominican Winter League. Matty was 19 and also on the team, and maybe theoretically has a card somewhere out there, was Willie McCovey:

Would this 1968 Nolan Ryan fit the bill?

I’m pretty sure Newhouser was actually one of the cards carried into the 1947-1966 sets. Some of the 1939-1946’s were included in these and are from years long after 1946. The exhibit dudes will be able to confirm.

Well, I took this picture and uploaded it thinking it would be Ron Santo's rookie year, but he had a rookie card in 1961. Then I thought....Boog Powell. Nope! He had one in 1962. I went through the trouble of taking the picture.....I'm posting it!

I'm sure there is somebody on these 2 cards whose "alternative first card" would be featured in this picture.

FYI - these reside in my Cardinals collection - Julian Javier and Fred Whitfield. Fortunately there were no Cardinals on the Pete Rose counterpart. These are not exactly easy to find - 1964 Topps Rookie Banquet.

Same image but no "salutation" in the later printing?

Some of the cards were continued with the salutations line, as I understand it, like Ted Williams. Isn’t Newhouser in that group? I didn’t think his later exhibit was a 1948 replacement.

Some of the cards with the “salutations” captions were continued after 1946, some of them for a long time after 1946.

I thought Newhouser was in that group of cards. One of the Exhibit experts probably knows better.

His Exhibit card without the caption, the one you’ve shown here. is a different card, which originated later that eventually replaced the captioned version or possibly printed alongside for a time. Don’t know which, probably the former.

Ernie (well, this is frustrating. I meant to post a Lou Brock alternate rookie card, but got confused and accidentally posted an eighth-year Ernie Banks “card”. I’m sort of stupid, but not that stupid. And Net54 doesn’t seem to give me an option to delete an attachment. Sigh.).

Not sure if you're being facetious (based on the emoji), but edit your post and hit 'Go Advanced.' Once there, under the paperclip icon, you'll be able to hit 'manage attachments' and remove/add whatever attachments you'd like to.

Default Brooks Robinson

Some of the alternative cards I like a whole lot better than their actual rookie cards.

This team issue postcard is the same pose as his '57 Topps card, but it's in the original B&W.

This 1955 Roberto Clemente postcard is one of my favorites. Not only it is signed by Clemente, but he actually addressed it too.

Not sure when they were originally issued, but this one is postmarked July 20, 1955, so definitely before then.

This very well could have been issued before his 1955 Topps rookie. Does anyone know when the 1955 Topps high-numbered cards were released?

I'm embarrassed to say I don't remember who threw this pic in with a card purchase I made here yrs ago (my apologies) but I was wondering if you or others know exactly what it is, (what year, etc) and possible value?

I would guess mid 70s on the Bench. He has a lot of team issues many look similar except I think the early 70s ones have the team name at the bottom.
