Default Show your cards of members of the "Black Sox" team and/or related characters

I will start this show with Mgr. Kid Gleason and 4 of the players on the 1919 White Sox team. Also included, are the alleged "messengers"
between the bad guys and the players during this World Series scandal....Bill Burns and former Boxer Abe Attell.

Thanks for the thread. I have been fascinated by this team since I was 8 years old. I have always felt bad for Buck Weaver, think he got screwed, the rest of them, well...

Don't own any cards of the Black Sox yet, but if I were to collect, I think it would be Weaver cards.

Cheers,

Jim

The Joe Jax CJ is very nice!

Incidentally, They all got what they deserved. Kudos to Landis for having the cajones that Selig never will.

I have a Type 1 Thompson photo of Buck weaver sliding into second, under the glove of art fletcher, with Herzog looking on. Admittedly, it's the 1917 world series but it's still ole buck.
It's framed like most everything else i own.
Hope that you're feeling 100% by now!!
all the best, ole friend

Hey guys....let's not forget Ray Schalk, the 1919 White Sox great catcher....he was one of the "honest guys"
in that World Series. And, good enough to eventually be inducted into the HOF.

Thanks Brian--that Breisch isn't too shabby either!
Red Faber--don't know if he's truly considered one of the Black Sox since he missed that infamous World Series with a bum ankle, but he was in the rotation during the season and is a HOFer, so here's another m101-6:

Todd - there is an unwritten board rule that M101-6s can be shown for any reason - even no reason at all.

Having been born shortly after his father was wounded in the Civil War at the battle of Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia....
his parents named him after that event.

Does anyone here have any vintage cards or pictures of Commissioner Landis ?
Please post them here.
