You got them both. I remembered Thomas in the mud wrestling scene but couldn't remember what Flaherty's role was.

Bill Murray came up in Second City and had a guest appearance on SCTV, so he could arguably be a fifth.

The old SCTV was perhaps the funniest stuff I have ever seen on television. I always felt that Ramis was the funniest of the bunch, even funnier than Candy or Flaherty. I wasn't as into Dave Thomas and when he teamed with Rick Moranis on that Candadian BS I felt that SCTV had jumped the shark.

SCTV was equal to or better than SNL when it debuted in 1977. Unfortunately, Harold Ramis only stayed on for the first season. Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin and Catherine O'Hara were terrific too. It was a legendary comedy troupe that is somewhat forgotten today.

Moranis and Thomas did the "Great White North" and played those two hosers from Canada. It was funny once or twice but it had nowhere to go. Martin Short also came on later, and while he was very funny the show did lose steam after a few seasons. They all do.

The "Wolfman" was regionally known....popping up on "clear channel" AM Radio stations (such as WABC) as
far back as (I recall) the early 1960's. And, also recorded spots on smaller stations.

However, after this movie was out, about in the Summer of '73....Wolfman Jack became even more popular
to a nationwide audience. And, he was all over the airwaves and on TV.

I'm relating my listening experience back then. Others may chime in and provide a better answer to your "Q".

PS.....
One of my smarter acquistions, was buying my 1957 Thunderbird in the Fall of '72. Because, after this movie
was out, my T-Bird appreciated 3-fold in value, overnite.

I knew Wolfman Jack when I was a teenager. He was far from unknown. This film made some people more famous, but they were already known. Ron Howard left show business after the Andy Griffith show ended in 1968, so this was his first appearance in five years. It got his career back on track, and led to "Happy Days", but he was already a famous child actor.

I also saw Eric Burdon on the PBS special and cringed. It is amazing how many of the 60's rockers still have good voices but some have so deteriorated it is painful to listen to, at least to me. Gerry of Gerry and the Pacemakers' voice was really pitiful also. On the flip side, the recent Do-Wop PBS special had a lot of old groups from the 50's and 60's and their voices sounded amazingly good. Truly amazing to see these 65-75 year old Black men with such fantastic singing voices still...

Barry, Ron Howard did all kinds of movies and TV in between Andy Griffith and American Graffiti. From Lassie, Disney and Love, American Style. I don't think he ever left the business.

Ted, I have a very vague recollection of hearing Wolfman Jack on WABC 770 AM radio when I was a kid. Regardless, he was well-known, at least in the NY area, when I was a kid. Other than Ron Howard and Wolfman Jack, I don't think a single person in that cast was known to anyone but their families.

It's hard to remember but I think I knew Wolfman Jack from both radio and TV. And I guess I forgot Ron Howard took some time off during those years. I thought he just wanted to lead a more regular life. Clearly, those were years where his roles were less than memorable.

Jeff- Neil Young did a live concert in England in 1971 that was aired by the BBC and is shown periodically on the Ovation Channel, and also on youtube. It's exceptionally good.

And I think I remember listening to Wolfman Jack on the radio, possibly ABC, and his signature howl at the end of each show, and I remember a tagline, but it may not be him. Who said "warm up that coffee mama, cause I'm comin' home." Was that the Wolfman?

Edited to add it was Ted Brown who said "warm up that coffee...". He was a disc jockey my mother used to listen to when I was a child. I am way off.

Big Neil Young Fan here, Have seen him numerous times. First time I saw him was summer of 1970 Los Angeles Forum with CSN&Y. One of my favorite Neil songs that is not played anymore is "Cowgirl In the Sand"
