Default 1934? Annis Furs Detroit Tigers- Need help w/ checklist, etc.

Posted By: Adam J. Baxter

This is what I have so far for a set checklist:

1. Del Baker
2. Mickey Cochrane
3. Frank Doljack
4. Charles Gehringer
5. Leon Goslin
6. Hank Greenberg
7. Ray Hayworth
8. Chester Hogsett
9. Fred Marberry
10. Marv Owen
11. Bill Rogell
12. Schoolboy Rowe
13. Heinie Schuble
14. Gee Walker
15. Jo Jo White

I'm hoping others can add to it or tell me whether or not it's complete at 15.

A number of these have come up on Ebay in the past month and both sellers have listed the year of issue as 1934. I think the year may be wrong as a card of Baker exists in the set. Del Baker managed in 1933 and did not manage again until 1936 alongside Mickey Cochrane. Cochrane assumed the managerial duties in 1934 and '35.

Any thoughts?

1934 Tigers team issue, the style of the card and the description matches the Annis Furs description.

Our checklist lists 23 cards in that set so about 2/3 of the set appeared recently.

Regards
Rich

Thanks Rich.

One seller listed them as "1934 Detroit Tigers Team Issue". The other seller listed his as 1934 Annis Furs and stated that they came from an Annis Furs display piece. The display piece examples were in considerably poorer condition then the first sellers lots, with overall wear and staple holes, presumably from being attached to the display.

Leon, the ones you have on your site are exactly the ones I'm talking about. Other then the ones on your site and ebay, I had never seen these before. The two I snagged were Doljack and Rogell. Unfortunately, my two appear to be cut a bit short along the top, but they are very cool nonetheless and I was happy to win them.

Two questions:

So, I guess they are "team issue" or "annis furs" and not free press?

Just how rare are these?
