Default 1904 Harvard baseball team- gay?

I don't understand the title. Are they trying to attract gay men or collectors? (being serious here) I don't get it.....I mean, I guess they are nice looking guys ....not that I am of that persuasion (I am not saying anything against it, I am a live and let live sort of person). I just don't understand the reason for for the title.

edited to add, yikes, I just saw the name of the company/seller's tagline selling it....ok, I guess I get it...

That's why they're called Johns.

Signed by an old Bulldog.

I've seen a lot of photos on eBay of young men from the turn of the century — often playing sports — with the word "gay" in the title. If it helps sell the photo, then I guess it's clever marketing. I wonder if it's the same seller ...

I don't see Scott going for putting "Gay" in our titles in our auctions though .

I posted this thread BEFORE I saw their tagline....,but then just decided to leave the thread as I really don't like to delete threads.

*unless they are accidental duplicates or something like that.

i think in the context of the piece it has to do with the happy not anything with homosexuals but maybe the seller is trying to pull a bigger audence with the a key word or something like that.

A look at the seller's other items suggest s/he is targeting a particular audience, thus the use of the keyword. No different really from people who use HOF or Jewish in their card listings.

Sorry, Leon, didn't want to hijack your thread , but here's an interesting article on one of the pictured Harvard players:
