Seriously? Such a sharp increase in price?

Pardon me for being a newbie here; however, that card has been selling well since the 1980's, if I correctly recall.

It has fetched record prices before...I do know this. However, a then-28-year-old example of Mantle's '52 Topps splashing on the Christie's Auction House scene in the days when Michael Jackson ruled the pop charts (popular music...not population reports, for those who may be a bit too young to remember the reference) is different than a sudden skyrocket more than 28 years later.

It seems as though something might be amiss with this. I may be wrong.

Best,

Eric

Just more fraud. PWCC's auctions have become Coach's Corner to me now. The results are pretty much the same.

Weird how much these prices fluctuate. Legendary had a PSA 5 sell for nearly 30K earlier this year: Link. REA had an SGC 6 for over 35K a few years ago: Link

That 5 looks like it may have been purchased for the same reason as the recent low grade 1938 Goudey lot for an astronomical sum.

That price might be a slight bargain if it bumps up to a PSA 7 and an absolute steal if it "magically" turns into a PSA 8.

If that card had been in Coach's Corner it would have sold for $500 as no one would have believed it was real.
