Hi Frank,

Just hit the magic 400!

(Six months later than hoped. But the monster doesn't seem to care much about my time timetable!)

Thanks Frank.

I'm almost ashamed to request my very low number be increased to 17.

However, they all are graded at least 4.5, so I realize my goals are different from most of 'the Net54 gang'.

OOPS! One recent purchase was an upgrade, so I was already at 17.

Default Good evening, Frank

Keith here in the sunny waterless eastern sierras. My second set has expanded to 84 cards, as I continue to slowly upgrade my primary collection. Sure seems easier the second time around....not!

Happy Fourth of July to all!

Hi Frank,

Sorry that it has been a while since I have provided an update. Please adjust my Monster number down to 45.

After selling a few off to fund a purchase, I have begun picking up a few, including these two.

Best regards,

Eric

The cards you are looking for on the BST aren't too tough so I am sure you will get there.

Frank- Please update my number to 23 - the last one is still in transit.

I still say it is not my intention to complete the set, just going after the ones that appeal to me, adhere to my standards, and can be purchased at what I feel is a reasonable price.

#23- is Mr. MLB Mud himself, Lena Blackburne

Hi Frank,

Can you please bump me up to 515 when you have a chance? It may be awhile before I post again! Still need Young Portrait, Cobb Red, Cobb Green, Demmitt St. Louis and O'Hara St. Louis.

Thanks, Steve

I know what you mean, Steve. I have been finished with the commons and the Southern Leaguers for a while. The HOF guys are getting tougher and tougher.

Frank, Go ahead and bump me up to 489.9. I picked up the Evers Blue Sky this week.

My monster number now stands at 518!!!!

OK. I cheated. I won the Goldin Auctions lot last night. Am making each card available for sale so my number should not be official.

Still I always wanted to make a post like this in this thread. Now I can say that I have. Even if it is not quite legit.

I recently picked up my 521st, a Magie error card. So I went from 520 points to 600. My first time to own a Magie!

Just a friendly reminder, if your claim of a Monster Number of 0 is correct, you are in a last place tie with over 6 billion people. Leon assures me that the forum software will not accommodate a list of over 6 billion names. Most importantly I would also refer you to Posts #37-39 in this thread in response to Post #28 for the definitive scholarly treatment of this issue, after which a Monster Number of 0 was no longer allowed and in fact became oxymoronic.

When your first card arrives, you will leave 6 billion people in the dust and are welcome to re-post a valid Monster Number.

Default Pessimist always thinking negatively

Frank, herein lies the conundrum...what if, hypothetically speaking (being an owner of an unspecified amount of T206 cards) someone were to have a negative amount of T206 cards? Would this negative quantity indicate T206 cards they no longer own, and thusly should they be duly assigned an inverse Monster number?

Brian (Questionably speaking)

Brian,

Short answer - NO
Immediate response - WTF
Long answer - So a pessimist with 520 cards sells half of them and then has a Monster Number of zero???? Methinks the conundrum is between your ears.

By the way when referring to a Monster Number, always capitalize both the M in monster and the N in number.

I am...uh, I forgot what I was going to say.(oh yeah)... um, some on the board may know I am selling mine. Counting down I may stop at one, although I may actually have zero. That way I can still contribute to the thread.

Default What's your Monster number?

Frank, with the recent uptick in new threads, prices realized, and overall popularity of the sets, I think that it's time that you started a Cracker Jack Number thread.

But im special so Im first on the 0 list

Long answer - So a pessimist with 520 cards sells half of them and then has a Monster Number of zero???? Methinks the conundrum is between your ears.

By the way when referring to a Monster Number, always capitalize both the M in monster and the N in number.
If I remember what I learned in my high school Biology course correctly, the conundrum is actually part of the inner ear, thus not technically between the ears.

And doesn't WTF stand for What The Frank? -- Just pulling your proverbial Monster tail.

Brian,

But if you only have one, it must bounce back and forth. This phenomena is commonly known as "cerebral ping-pong" usually played without a net.

Frank, virtually awash in conundra.

Default Done for July

So, I am now at 62. Not too bad, averaging about 10 a month (but that will go down with August and September ). I'll have to make them up on the back end of the year!

Looking at the list, I thought I had given my number but I hadn't. I have a Monster Number of 1 (Ed Killian - Portrait).

I intend to at least double this at the National.

The reference above would suggest that the answer is a conundrum. Just don't ask the question twice, Ed.

Frank, Go ahead and bump me up to 489.9. I picked up the Evers Blue Sky this week.
Mike, nice going. The Evers Blue Sky was the last HOFer that I picked up when I put together my set.

Not counting Plank.

Hi Frank,

Please bump my Monster Number up to 46 when you get a chance. I just picked up this Charley Carr and have gotten the T206 bug again.
