1940 Playball-ouch! With the Wizard of Oz themed department store display, the movie should be taking place in 1939! |

Anyone ever read the book? A Christmas Story is only one small part in the book. Jean Shepherd was a master story-teller. |

I seem to remember the Orphan Annie Decoder Ring having a 1940 date on it in the movie - have to check on that when the marathon begins tonight. Definitely a big Jean Shepherd fan - check out the link below for the story behind the 1950's "I, Libertine" hoax Shepherd concocted: |

The movie takes place xmas 1940. The wizard of oz display could easily have been there the year after it was released as its just the toys they are displaying. |

Yup-it could indeed be 1940 I think, after watching again last night. I looked for and found the cards on headboard as well, pretty cool! |

During the spring of 1940 was the first year that the Daisy Company started making the Red Ryder BB gun based on the popular comic strip western hero. |
