Hasn't been a post on this site in 24 hours. Thought I would break the ice. Anything new in the memorabilia world?

Summer is just an absolutely insane time for me (kids, yard, work, exercise, projects, etc). I'm saving for the National, making a few ebay purchases here and there (nothing terribly exciting)and making quick hits on various sites. This board is going to be just fine. As long as people post aquisitions and pose questions from time to time I will be happy. It seems that a lot of the posts have been about paper and photography. I'm fine with that, but find paper a bit boring like cards. I would like to see more 3d display pieces and collectibles.

One thing I am wondering about is the fear most collectors of memorabilia have regarding drawing attention to what they are after currently.

I often wonder if I am singlehandedly responsible for making the price of Nebraska Indian items double/triple in the last two years because I have featured some of it on the Net54 and GU sites.

I agree with Mike that most memorabilia collectors like to keep what they are currently after a secret for fear of raising demand for those items. Most of us are not necessarily niche collectors, but we collect what we find appealing and many times we don't know what that is until we see it. With card collecting it is easier to focus and set goals like completing sets. Memorabilia collectors don't really have any end in sight to what can be collected.

You are right on Dan. Look what the prices of gloves did when they became mainstream, then bats, nodders, balls in the box, then on to trophies, and wire photos. I think pinbacks are undervalued right now. I am picking up those I like and one other niche I'm not going to mention right now...ha ha.

I'm saving every last penny to make it to the National. After hotel, gas, food, parking, admission, I won't have any money to spend on memorabilia, but what the hell. At least I'll make it there.

I also don't post about some things because the more they get looked at the more demand there could be for them. I don't care to drum up the prices of stuff I want to be collecting. Cards are cards.....no hiding them. Other things, within the memorabilia category, are different. Some can go a little bit unnoticed and stay reasonably priced to collect.....best regards

Half the problem is that this stuff is so rare to come by, there's either nothing new to post, or there isn't enough cash to buy the stuff.

If you want to see pics of cards, all you have to do is look at ebay. There are thousands of them on there. Can't be said for a lot of memorabilia.

I came across a vintage score card this week, wonderful color Victorian style with feather edges - back and front detail in color (Boston vs. New York I believe) just not sure - passed on it because it was 4,000 (I think it could be worth more) - need to do more research - wonderful piece anyways
