Not that this wasn't painfully obvious, but still:

Let me be the first to tear your head off for outing this auction!

Don't you just love to see the following in the item description:

I FOUND THIS CARD IN AN ESTATE THAT I BOUGHT OUT LAST YEAR AND WAS THRILLED TO HAVE FOUND THIS PACKED AWAY!

That sentence usually just jumps out and bites you. It says caveat emptor all over it.

Wow, the seller changed the auction a little bit. It used to be a $500 starting bid and now it's just over a hundred bucks.

I highly doubt this was found in an estate. It seems like there is nothing left that hasn't been reprinted.

When I informed him that his card was a fraud, here was his response:

"WELL I DONT SEE ANYWHERE IN MY AUCTION WHERE I AM COMMITTING FRAUD. MAYBE IF YOU HAD A JOB YOU COULD AFFORD THE CARDS YOU SECRETLY WANT! THANKS FOR LOOKING ANYWAY."

He's on to me....

Jeff,

What? He made no reference to his stellar 95.8 percent feedback?

I asked him the following:

If you're not sure whether it's a reprint, then why a Buy It Now price of $1,000? Doesn't that imply that you're selling this as authentic? If I purchase it and send it to a grading service and it comes back as a reprint, will you refund the purchase price? Thanks.

Why do all these idiots always respond to emails questioning the authenticity of their cards in such a rude manner, when in fact their cards are fake?

Well, at least he includes that he's not certain if the card is real. Of course, if it were real it's a 20K card and not the $99 he's offering it for. But of course he didn't get it graded because of the exorbitant $10 fee from PSA.

His 1933 Goudey Sport Kings Babe Ruth is also a reprint/fake:

Here's another one of his auctions:

1976 TOPPS #19 GEORGE BRETT

THIS CARD IS NOT GRADED, IS A LITTLE OFF CENTER BUT VERY NICE.

I JUST SAW THIS SAME CARD GO FOR $1775.00 RIGHT HERE ON EBAY

I'd like to see where he saw a 1976 George Brett sell for $1775

Some funny Q&As are now on that fake Cobb listing (including "I WILL NOT REFUND ANY MONEY IF YOU WIN THIS AUCTION"). And the starting price has been lowered!

Don't think he'll post my question, but here is the exchange:

Dear bcacker,

Hello, if no one bids on this fake card, would you relist it and accept monopoly money as payment, thank you and happy new year.

FUNNY YOU ASK, BUT TOO LATE ITS ALREADY BEEN BID ON. I HAVE MORE THOUGH IF YOU WANT TO PAY WITH MONOPOLY MONEY. I'LL PLAY WITH YA IF YOU ARE THAT BORED, NO PROBLEM. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO!

- bcacker

Guess he didn't take that close of a look at the bid

Questions from other members : 1933 BABE RUTH SPORT KINGS GOUDEY ORIGINAL CARD
Question & Answer Answered On

Q: hello, i thought i should tell you that the questions you are receiving about this card and your Cobb are from attorneys. they are collectors and go after people who sell ungraded cards that the seller tries to pass off as real. these guys are the real thing, fyi. Dec-31-07

A: THANKS BUT I HAVE NOT TRIED TO PASS ANYTHING OFF AS REAL! BUT THANKS FOR THE INPUT ANYWAY. I HAVE GIVEN THE BEST DESCRIPTION I COULD FOR EVERYTHING I SELL AND HAVE NOT INTENDED TO MISLEAD ANYONE. HAPPY NEW YEAR.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I guess his use of the word ORIGINAL is not in any way shape or form an attempt at misleading anyone.

By saying 'original' he is not trying to pass it off as real.

What a dork.

The sad thing is that these people will sell crap like this with basically no consequenses, yet if anyone got caught stealing a .99 cent can of tuna from the locl grocery store the police would walk them out in cuffs.

Steve

Steve, that is a pretty damn good point. It's very sad that fraudsters can act with such utter disregard for consequences on ebay.

There are 1 or 2 eBay handles I remember someone on the Board saying they had (something like: ibuyFakeCards and some other one I cannot remember).

Am I the only one that would find it absolutely hillarious for 2 of these type of "buyers" to get into a huge bidding war over that guy's Cobb card. That would be great. Get the bidding to around $10k for the Cobb card and the Ruth card (which, from what I understand from what the seller is saying, may be real).

What these sellers need are some anger management classes. Why lash out at people who are telling the truth when they are holding on to a lie?
