Default Old Photograph ID (Cobb?)

Hello!

I recently purchased this baseball photograph and was looking to see if I could get any information on it.

The seller stated he was told it was Ty Cobb and it kind of looked like him to me so I wanted to ask; who is the player on this photograph and is there any way to tell how old it is?

As always, all help is greatly appreciated! -Frank

Looks like your guy is rearing back to throw with his left and Ty was a righthander, I believe. The sock stripes don’t match up with Tiger’s uniforms during Ty’s career 1905-26 not the A’s for his final seasons - per Dressed to the Nines database.

Zero chance it's Cobb. Actually looks more like Shoeless Joe than Cobb (which it isn't either)...

It's not Cobb, but is original and from about 1920s.

Haha, that would've been something! Thanks for the help so far everyone! So at this point, I'm looking for 1920's uniforms with similar socks and a stripped hat. Once I find that, it looks like I'm looking for lefties on the team.

How about the Cardinals?

Unfortunately, there's a far better chance that he's from a town team or semipro team.

If no one recognizes the face, I think that's probably going to end up being the case.

I looked like a professional uniform but at this point, I believe he probably is an amateur.
