Default T206 Blank Back Scarcity

Hello All!!

I think we might need to revisit t206 blank back rankings.....alot of collectors seem to put this tough back just after Carolina Brights.....i find this back becoming as tough as Red Hindu....Ted, Jim, Wonka, Clayton , Mike Healer, A Bravesfan, Larry Harris, Leon and all the rest...please chime in...

I have been collecting them for over twelve years...other than that large lot of southern leaguers, not many to be had.....especially HOFers...

Peace

Johnny

I don't see them for sale all that much, but I don't really go out of my to look for them either. In fact you now have the only one I have owned. Never have seen a Meyers, that's one I would like to have, ever seen one? Someone should do a blank back survey, maybe certain cards are more common with blanks.

Mike

Default T206 Blank Backs

I have several very nice T206 Broad Leaf 350's in various grades if anyone is interested in trading their T206 Blank Backs for them. Email privately (ppgustafson@yahoo.com) with scans for an offer that will include at least (2) Broad Leaf's for any Blank Back that is graded or will grade "Authentic" at SGC. Thank you.

Default Jim!!

JIM!!!

WHAT A SWEET SWEET CASSIDY!!

not to complicate matters....but there are blank backs w/ ghost images, missing colors and the like, those are the "printer scrap" i love so much like Jim's Cassidy....those "blank backs" deserve twice the premuim of a "regular no error" blank back...tomato tomato, but there really is a big difference !! they are both still technically printers scrap since all blak backs were hand cut from sheets...

Jim , your card turns a $400 blank back to a $1000 / skys the limit!!!(blank back missing color) imo....

anyway, my point is blank backs in general should be #7 or # 8 imho behind red hindu, they are more elusive than previously thought!! we can keep them on the scarcity list since it has been universally accepted brown o.ms are truly printers scrap also!!

Mike, thanks for the card, if it goes anywhere, goes back to you!!

Back when I started the HOF backs line, I decided to add one to the group. I had looked for about 3 weeks when a Wills Thowing popped up on ebay. I thought that it must not be that hard to find and I had just been over looking them prior. Wrong! It sold for 50 cents over my bid of $128. I never had another chance and have been kicking myself for a long time since.

Not sure how tough they are in real life, but not many hit the streets.

Hope all is well,
Bob

Default Blank Back T206

Hi Johnny-

I use Jim R.'s scarcity list, being that he knows the difficulty of these backs firsthand far more than I do. I have never owned one myself (but it is on the list ) and I also don't see them become available too often (hardly ever actually).

This is one of those T206's I'd gladly accept the "A" grade on because on a true blank back T206 that's all you'd get........

It would be interesting to do a survey (in hoping everyone would participate- whether private or public) like the ones TedZ and Tim did, to see what's actually out there.

I wish you the best Johnny, and hope you can get your hands on one (or more )

Sincerely, Clayton

I agree with Jim R's ranking.....

At the peak of my blank back collecting...I think that I had about 10 T206s .. and years ago it was quite easy to find them for $250 a pop.

Times have changed and suddenly blank backs have become valuable and highly sought after. But that does not change the fact that they are simply not that scarce.

Now T205 blank backs....that's a different story!

Default t206 blank back scarcity

JAMIE!!

THAT'S THE CARD!!you know who to sell that one to.... thanx again for sharing...

SCOTT!!was waiting to hear from you or your dad.....Jim's list is almost there, just broadleafs are not as scarce as blank backs imo....think about when you where in your height collecting blanks(a few years ago??), how more common the tough backs were to spot and as cheap as a song!!(hindu, 50 dollar range, broadleaf 140, carolina 130,ect..)....everything is relative...you, your dad, Jim where collecting backs before me, but i was tracking them...

btw...hows the family??

Peace

Johnny,

Thanks for the kind wishes. I'm a new dad - Jefferson Levy was born 4/22/10. So even though I've spent considerably less time and $$ collecting T206s, I've been having a great time with the new addition.

As for Hank, he's still plugging along trying to finish up the T206 raw set (Minus Wagner and Doyle). We are nearly there.

Best,
SGL
